FLORIDA AAUW LEGAL ADVOCACY FUND

LEGAL ADVOCACY FUND

The Legal Advocacy Fund is collected by AAUW members to support selected women in higher education who are seeking judicial redress for sex discrimination. We help with their legal costs associated with state or federal court cases, and also make annual awards, the Progress in Equity Award, to recognize programs that advance equity on campus.

  • LAF was founded in 1981 as a grassroots effort by the Ithaca, New York branch.

  • LAF does not engage in litigation.

  • LAF has a network of volunteer attorneys and social scientists who advise women faculty, staff, or students who have suffered sex discrimination.

  • LAF's Progress in Equity Award was established in 1987.

  • The Legal Advocacy Fund has contributed more than $700,000 to more than 65 women seeking judicial redress for sex discrimination in higher education.

You do not need to be a lawyer to contribute to, or promote, LAF. LAF needs your support!

For more information please do not hesitate to contact Alex Sterling.
