Hikaru No Go Summary (vol 5)
Volume 5
Akira was seating in his room, in front of his computer, waiting for his opponent, SAI. His opponent was here and the game began...

Oya was taking the official professional Go test. He turned to the only empty seat in the room. It was Akira's. After waiting for over an hour, Akira's opponent was assumed to have won the game. Oya's dissatisfaction with Akira's behaviour increased.

Just like the previous two game, Sai won. But from this game, Sai realised that his skills had improved more than he had thought. Sai had similarly believed that Hikaru had become stronger too from viewing the thousands of sets of games he had played.

The next day, Akira went to Ichikawa san's Go shop in seek of Ogata ku dan to play a game with him when a customer, Hirase san told him about meeting Hikaru in a net cafe. Akira ran to find Hikaru. Luckily, Hikaru was viewing a comic site then. Hikaru denied the fact that he know of a SAI playing online. Akira looked down on his attitude towards Go. But seeing Akira so, Hikaru told him that if he kept on pursuing his illusion, he will catch up with him one day. Akira challenged him to a game which Hikaru turned away. When Akira had left, Hikaru went back to the cafe to thank Metani's sister and told her that her would not come here again. "My holiday is over..."

School reopened. Metani commented that Hikaru's skill had improved over the holiday, much to Zutsui's surprise at his sudden improvement. In addition, Akari had brought a new member to the club. Howver, she was still unable to make up for the girl's team.
Sai on the other hand was disappointed that he was not allowed to play Go when Hikaru suggested playing with him. Sai was very happy but...

Hikaru went to find his grandfather hoping to win a game in ex-change for a chess set. Although Hikaru lost, his grandfather was very happy that his skill had improved greatly and henceforth bought the cheapest chess set (with pegs) for him. So this is how Hikaru began to play with Sai.

Hikaru had improved till he could match Metani to a game. Akari who had been attending the Go classes as Hikaru had been told him that Shirakame sensei invited him to visit the class. At the class, Hikaru won Akota san. Shirakame sensei was extrememly impressed by his improvement.

Soon, Hikaru had improved till he could win Metani... everyone was amazed once more.

Hikaru had met Kishimoto, Akira's team'd first player when he was getting some English assessment books. The latter invited him to a game to test how good Hikaru really was that aroused Akira's attention. Hikaru could not match him at all... but Kishimoto commented his skill was almost as good as his second player. This was then that he told Hikaru that Akira was going to be a professional player soon...

Knowing this, Hikaru found his way to 'Nippon Go In Kaikan', the Japan Go Associate Center to register to be an 'insei' when he realised that the registration date was over. Ogata san who was passing by then, helped him with the administration. Hikaru was then told to prepare 3 sets of games he had played...

Hikaru returned to the Go Club and announced his decision. However, he did not know that 'insei' was not allowed to participate in amateur competition. Metani was furious. Just then Kaga escaped to the chemistry lab where the club was to flee from the disciplinary master for smoking. Here, Kaga pushed Hikaru out of his indecisiveness by challenging him 3 against 1 game. In this way, Zutsui, Metani and Kaga played a game of three with Hikaru... the result was 2 to 1. Only Kaga won Hikaru.

Hikaru then filed the games they had played for the registration.

The day of the entrance test to be an 'insei' arrived. Hikaru in the company of his mother went to the Center...
Something about Go
Go basically is not an easy game to learn or play. Unlike most chess, there is no exact method of playing or formulas you can use to play. So normally, you will need a teacher to guide you through each step.

Also, for beginners, it is not easy to see if you had won or not. (i don't think i can comment further, i am if not bad, considered very bad at Go) So if you really want to learn, you really have to find someone to play and if possible someone to correct your mistakes. In this way, you can learn better.
