The Americas have always been known as the "New World". However this 'new' world was already old and had Native American inhabitants. And not all foreign colonies actually settled. The Spanish arrived on the coast of California during the 1500s, but didn't colonize the land.
Christopher Colombus had discovered the Americas after landing somewhere in the Bahamas. However, as one writer quotes:
"Christopher didn't discover a new world. He merely joined two old worlds together."
On this site, you'll learn the history, conflict, and resolutions as multiple cultures venture to explore this "New World".
