Flight 801 was originally started when John, Mike, and Jack decided to start a band one day in 7th grade. They decided to call it Flight 800. The band didn't do much, but then when Bryant joined later in the year they decided to change their name to Flight 801, and the name stuck. Flight 801 signed up to perform at their school's Battle of the Bands, and that is when they started to play some songs- Dammit and Adam's Song by Blink 182, and Chick Magnet and Responsibility by MXPX. They originally were going to play the MI:2 theme by Limp Bizkit, but after Jack left they switched to these songs.

Flight 801 played the Battle of the Bands as a three piece, and finished out the year with just Mike, John, and Bryant. When the band started 8th grade they really got going. They recorded their first "CD" , which consisted of the 3 of them in Mike's garage recording their 2 new original songs, Missed Out and School Sucks, with Mike's minidisc. Later in the year, after Flight 801 played their first show at the Attic, Jack rejoined the band by using "trickery", where he told each member of the band that the other people in the band wanted him in (if you understood that, hooray for you). Anyway, we all figured out that Jack didn't belong in the band, because he had a completely different musical taste than the rest of the band. So Jack "left the band", and Flight 801 continued the rest of 8th grade playing talent shows, and having their second show at Cornerstone. Using the money they made from that, the recorded their first real CD at Bridges studio, and then came the end of 8th grade.

The band was now split up, John at Marquette, and Mike and Bryant at Lafayette. Later in the year, after playing some more shows, etc etc, Jordan joined the band when Flight 801 played at the Midwest Music Pit. Having a second guitar really filled out the band. After that harmonious addition, the end of 9th grade came, and Flight 801 continued to rock the socks off of West County.

From that point on, Flight 801 has done many things. The have bought their own recording equipment, made their own studio, and continue to play shows and record a CD or two. Come check them out sometime at a show!
