Complete, Original Software Packages
$25 Intuit Quicken 1.5
for vintage Macs.
Mint, sealed in original shrinkwrap.

It's not a great idea to keep financial information on the same computer you take online. A cheap, pragmatic solution is to load this version of Quicken onto a vintage Macintosh and transfer Excel or SYLK or Quicken files by floppy diskette as needed. Then incinerate the floppy....

This version is
still supported. See the links below. It works on any Mac from the 512K up. Needs at least System 3.2. This version of Quicken stores files differently than the newer versions. There is a support link for that listed below. Actually, that will give you much better security if your financial files fall into the wrong hands. $20 Deneba Comment 2.0
1987 for really vintage Macs
Before
Stickies, there was the original. It is much better than Stickies. Comment gives you a complete personal secretary with easy-to-use pop-up notes, pop-up reminders and more. It can function like a Rolodex. It's uses are limited only by your imagination, as Comment can annotate virtually any program from a spreadsheet to a recipe file or a letter. Teachers, editors and spreadsheet gurus who use vintage software should not be without this program. Fully functional. Requires System 3.2 and Finder 6.0. Very MultiFinder aware, so it works great in System Update 6.x. The manual is top notch. $20 Claris Organizer 1.0 Retail
1995. 1.4MB diskettes

The manual is for version 2.0, the diskettes are the original 1.0. This application does work under MacOS 8.0 just fine. Backwards compatible with a myriad of printers and vintage Macs. A perfect program for a vintage Powerbook. You've heard of Palm Pilot's PIM software for the Mac? It's Organizer, see the link below.
Four-part modular organizer, divided into Tasks, Contacts, Notes and Calendar. Much easier to use than Now-Up-To-Date and Now-Contact, and more structured than InTouch and DateBook. Handles a multitude of print-outs for you Daytimer hold-outs. Supports a herd of third-party printers and print drivers.

$20 Fastback Plus 3.0.1 by Fifth Generation Systems 1992 THIS ITEM IS GONE. THANKS!
When Symantec and Fifth Generations got together in the early '90s, they released this top-shelf file back-up and restoration package that is compatible with everything. You'll need System Update 6.0.5 or System 7.x. Handles all types of media from
tape or optical drives to removeables and floppies and hard disks. Cross-platform compatible for the Wintels, though you'll need Fastback on the PC (probably easier to find than this rarity). A software package in this good of condition is a true collectible. You won't find this on eBay.
Features Drag 'n Drop, a great erase function and will fully automate back-ups and restores on your vintage Apples. Get organized fast. As
TidBITS writer Adam Engst laments, this is a 100-percent pure archival tool for the Macintosh: "Several mainstream true backup programs are available, though many others, such as Redux and FastBack, have disappeared over time." There is a solution offered today by Symantec, and that is to use Norton Expand in Norton Utilities 3.5. A link for that solution is provided below, to the far left. To see a picture, click the link below to the far right and scroll down. To check my paraphrasing, click the other.

$25 Symantec Norton Utilities 2.0
I wish I could say this package was completely functional because it's in great condition. But I gave the 800KB Emergency Disk away as a bonus item some time ago to a SWAP-list member in need. To do a complete Norton Disk Doctor install,
you need that disk. This package is still useable by dragging items from the disks onto your drive yourself. The utilities work fine, and the manual is worth every penny. It goes deep into the nuts and bolts of HFS. There may be a work-around for full installations, but I never needed the Disk Doctor as much as SpeedDisk, the Disk Editor and the other utilities that are fully functional here.

$20 Suitcase 2.0 by Fifth Generation Systems/Symantec
1991
A great product in
perfect condition. Most people are well-aware of Suitcase. It organizes your Fonts, FKeys, Sounds and Desk Accessories on your vintage Mac. This version is compatible with the Mac 512KE and Plus on up. It needs at least System Update 6.0 or later. It is fully System 7 savvy, in fact, this is the System 7.x release. Once again, the picture link is to the bottom left of this box. The other links are usefuller.
