If your computer is running on Windows 95 or NT, you must have Microsoft Plus! to change the usual desktop icons (My Computer, My Documents, Recycle Bin, etc.). However, you can change shortcut icons and file icons without Microsoft Plus!. If your computer is running on Windows 98 or higher, you do not need any extra software.
You must have WinZip to be able to download the icons!

To use the downloaded icon as one of your usual desktop icons:
(1) Double click on the WinZip archive to open. Extract the icon to where you want it.
(2) Open "My Computer" on the desktop.
(3) Open "Control Panel"
(4) Double click on "Display"
(5) In Windows 98 and higher, click on the "Effects" tab and change your desktop icons as desired. In Windows 95 or NT, if you have Microsoft Plus!, click on the "Plus!" tab and change desktop icons as desired.
To use the downloaded icon as a shortcut icon in Windows 95, NT, or 98:
(1) Double click on the WinZip archive to open. Extract the icon to where you want it.
(2) Right-click on the shortcut whose icon you wish to change.
(3) Click on "Properties"
(4) Click on the "Shortcut" tab, locate the "Change Icon" button, and change the icons as desired.
To use the downloaded icon as a file icon in Windows 95, NT, or 98:
(1) Double click on the WinZip archive to open. Extract the icon to where you want it.
(2) Open any folder.
(3) Click on "View"
(4) In Windows 95 and NT, Click on "Options." In Windows 98 and higher, click on "Folder Options."
(5) Click on the "File Types" tab and locate the type of file whose icon you wish to change. Once you have found it, select it and click the "Edit" button.
(6) Press the "Change Icon" button.
The "File Types" Manager is a powerful, but potentially dangerous tool. Use it with caution! Do only what you need to do!
