The  Grand Tour 2000   route started in Quyon, on the Ottawa River, wending its way through  the roads and lanes  of Western Quebec...

I ride on  the Grand Tour  because it offers  a physical and mental challenge, the company transports my  baggage, and I can camp out. It is somewhat lonely, as I travel on my own, meeting people as I go but that is part of the trip for me.    The trip gives me  a long-term goal at the beginning of the season, because with days of 70-150 km, it requires training beforehand. The  2002 trip is on my agenda for this summer.

Grand Tour 2001 was a particularly special trip through the Saguenay/Lac-St-Jean and Charlevoix regions.  I'd always wanted to see that part of Quebec, and what better way than on a bike?
