The  Grand Tour 2000   route started in Quyon, on the Ottawa River, wending its way through  the roads and lanes  of Western Quebec. 2000 or so intrepid cyclists had the opportunity to explore the countryside   between Hull, Maniwaki, Mont Laurier, St-Jovite, Annonciation, Nominigue, the Petit train du Nord route (that was hard work!), Lachute, le Surot (and the apples),  the ferry  at Dorion/Vaudreuil (what a lineup), and that last day of sunshine and the steady East wind in our faces...the bike path along the St. Lawrence River through Longueuil and that welcome ice cream cone. The weather was spectacular except for a monsoon on our rest day at St-Jovite (I bought a groundsheet as if to keep my tent floor dry  - note that my tent leaks in heavy rain, and is not well ventilated... but it cleared up enough to cycle out to deliver Madeleine's birthday gift at YCC.
As we approached the St. Lawrence river the wind became stiff from the east (very unfortunate, but hey, that's part of the trip!)
