Chapter One: Meet The People
Tenka stared at the man who was standing in front of him, and the hundred Chosen. The man had talked almost half an hour now, and it was starting to get hot in that little room. Tenka hadn't listen the man very much, although he knew he should. Instead he had been looking around for someone he'd knew, but found it to be useless.
< I have never seen these people in my whole life. Actually, there is only four who looks like my age. Stupid thing, I was prepared to be the youngest one in our group, which would be 15-20 year-olds, but now it seemes like I will be the eldest.>
The man stopped his speach after explainin difficulties in travelling to other worlds, and then he said his farewells in the name of Mori, and the Chosen Ones answered by the Code. Then the large group was quided to the 'waiting room' , which was actually a very large hall. There they made a straight line, as they had ordered to. Tenka noticed that he was the other end of the line, and there was one of the boys who looked like his age almost next to him. The boy was shorter than him, and he had very odd colour of skin for a Japanise. Tenka frowned when he saw his skin.
After year 2306 Asian-European pairing was somewhat illegal, because of Chinas, Indias and Japans new law, which said there had to be special permit to have children at all. That caused all the women to move to Europe, and when that came illegal too, and when the Europeans already werent allowed to come in Asia, all the kids like Jiru were a mark of their parents crime. The Droids soon scooped the parents and killed them. Then the family of the child could take care of him or her, or if they didnt want to, the child was killed also. Some people felt sorry for them; after all, it wasnt their fault, but mostly people felt only hate and disgust for cross-blooded. In Honshu, they were actually considered as animals. Thats why almost all of the cross-blooded were rebels against Mori and the Code. Tenka was morist to soul and blood, and he hated rebels from all his heart.
The Chosen Ones were still after a quarter standing there in the line, when couple military type of guys showed up. One of them shouted the command word, and to the floor in front of them came white light-lines from the ceiling. There was a one soldier in one lines end. Then the one right opposite Tenka shouted, "From fiveteen to twenty year olds, here. Now!" Tenka ran in front of the man, raised his left hand and shouted , "Tenka Atasa , from Asahikawa, Hokkaido, sir!" The man handed him a bag, which holded some food, rope and other things. Then Tenka moved away and let the next teen to say his name. Tenka looked again. The girl raised her hand and shouted her name and homeplace, "Mei-Mei Liu , from Matsuyama, Shikoku, sir!" The man nodded his approval and gave a bag to the girl. Tenkas bag was blue and the girls was red. The next one in their group was, as Tenka thought, very likely not even turned thirteen yet. The short boy said his name and homeplace, " Kimemo Inajan, in Akira Miyazakis place, from Osaka, Honshu, sir!" The man looked at him for a while, but then showed him to go to Tenka and Mei-Mei. Tenka blinked his eyes. Tenka looked at the next one who came; he was also under-aged, but he looked older than Memo. When the fourteen-year-old boy had said his name and other stuff ,"Wiz Sakiro, in Yasuhiro Naitos place, from Aomori, Honshu, sir!",and had his back-bag, the stripe-haired boy came. The man didnt even try to act un-disgusted. He almost threw a blue bag to the boys face. The boy didnt make any honor, he just stood there. Then the boy took a little blue notebook that was hanging in a little rope around his neck. He scratched something to it, but he couldnt finish it because the man slapped him to cheek, fast and hard. "What the fuck are you doing!? Answer me, you animal! Now!! " The man kicked lying stripe-head to his side, and though Tenka saw he had a lot of pain, the boy didnt answer, actually he didnt make a noice at all. Confused, Tenka looked at others. The girl was terrified, the other boy was too. But Memo wasnt. Tenka saw a little sparkle of understanding in Memos eyes, and then he took the little blue note-book at the floor, and showed it to the soldier. "Sir?" The soldier took his gaze out of quietly whimpering stripe-head, and looked askingly him. Memo started to explaine quickly, he didnt want to get kicked too. "Sir may I speak?" The soldier nodded, he wanted to know what this kid had to say. "Sir, I think this boy cant speak. Look at this, sir." He showed the blue note-book to the soldier. It said, 'Migia Jikeru, from Nagas---' The soldier looked, and for sure, belived that Jikeru couldnt speak, but he still wanted to beat that stupid rebel down. He kicked him one last time, and his boot hit the boy's head half-accidently. The stripe-head went unconscious with a silent yell. Then the soldier decited to ignore the stripe-head as well as he could, besides it wasnt any fun kicking him now when he was unconscious. "Follow." The soldier started to walk towards a door at the other side of the hall. Tenka and Wiz followed immeditly, it was a habit of morists to take orders without even thinking them. Mei was about to leave too, but Memo grabbed her arm. She turned and whispered, "What now?" Memo turned to laying boy, "We have to help him, Mei!" Mei looked at the stripe- head, "You're really thinking we should help that? It isnt even any of our bussiness, and Im not gonna touch that. Hes cross-blooded! Think of all the desises he may carry!" Memo looked at her with a gaze that spoke volumes. Then he said with cold, icy voice, "Dont then. But Im getting him carried, with your help or without. Withoutll take longer." Mei looked at the boy, knowing very well that Memo could never carry the stripe-head at his own, even though the unconscious boy looked very thin.
She sighed, "'Kay then. But well better hurry, the others wonder where we are." Memo nodded and grabbed the boys legs when she took his headside. "By the way, you can call me Mei." Memo grinned. "Mei, you can call me Memo." They lifted him up, and Mei gasped in suprise. "Gosh, Memo, he has got the bones of a bird! He probably doesnt weight even 30 kg!"
"Mei, he has got normal bones, its just hes very possibly anorexic or something. Thats like most of them are; under-weighted and poor. The world isnt fair, you know."
While they lefted now-empty hall, they didnt notice two short figures running after them. The other, the smaller one, grabbed the little blue note-book on the floor and looked at it a while. The bigger one grabbed the smaller ones arm and whispered, "Come on, Mika! Well lost them!"The smaller one sighed, "Okhay Jawi, Im comin'. "
As they runned after the group of 16-20 year olds , you could hear their little argue fainting. "My name is Jari."
"Thats vhat I said! Jawi."
"Jari."
"Jawi, shuddup 'n wun, okhay? I don want my bwothew eated, do you want youws?" After that last comment they both runned faster to a room's door which said, 'O.W.I'. The smaller one, Mika, looked at the sign on the door."What dose it say, Jawi? What dose it say?" The girl, Jari, read the text."O-W-I. I donno what it means, Mika, but it cant be dangerous, 'cause the grey man went inside too." Mika nodded, and went in after Jari.
They arrived to a middle-sized room, where were quite dark. They came just in time to see Jikeru, Mei and Memo disappearing into the Gate. "Ji! No! Jikewuuu!" Mika came running from the door, and Jari ran right next to him. The soldier could only back off when he saw two kids running towards the Gate. Then they jumped through it.
