You stand at the south side of the clearing outside the common house for the Dojo, some three stories tall and eighty feet wide, in the shape of a cross. Currently the wood is unpainted, shielded from the rain only by an awning of roof and shingle. Windows adorn every section of the first and second floor, freshly placed and still lacking curtain or shutter. The clearing lays behind, while the main doors of the ground floor stand invitingly before you.
Back to the clearing | Enter the houseThe commons is a forty foot square room, currently empty of furnishings of any kind. Doors lead in all directions, to various rooms, and a set of stairs leads up through a small opening in the ceiling to the second floor. Candle sconces line the walls, currently empty and waiting to be filled with waxy light-giving tapers.
Exit the house | West to Storage | East to the Study | Southwest to the Mess Hall | Southeast to the Kitchen | Upstairs to the Living RoomJust an empty room with fewer windows. Currently there are a pair of workbenches, a small pile of lumber, and various tools strewn about, as well as various half-finished pieces of furniture. A single door leads back east to the common room.
East to CommonsThis wing of the first floor is a bit more accomodating, with a handful of chairs and a single table, plus plenty of windows to let in the morning light, providing a more private respite from the central commons to the west.
West to CommonsThis room houses a single, long table, with a pair of benches on either side, perfect for serving meals to the masses. A pair of chandeliers hang from the ceiling above, strangely devoid of candles.
North to Commons | East to the Kitchen | Exit through south back doorCounter space lines the walls here, with numerous drawers beneath and cupboards above. An empty space sits in the corner, with a hole in the side of the wall currently covered in canvas, awaiting the steel pipe from an oven. A table for preparing food has been built into the center of the room as well, with shelves beneath for storing things. Curiously, though, nothing is yet stored in any of the trappings of this kitchen, all empty. Torches line the walls where windows lack.
North to Commons | West to Mess Hall | South to PantryThis empty room is devoid of windows, with one wall dominated by two large and empty shelves.
North to KitchenUpstairs from the common room is another spacious room with a calmer atmosphere to it. A wooden railing leads around an opening in the floor surrounding the stairs leading down, while another staircase by the south wall leads up above. Several doors line the walls, leading to bathrooms and sleeping quarters.
Downstairs to the Commons | To the Bathroom | To the Living Quarters | Upstairs to BalconyOne of the few rooms in the house which has been furnished properly, this bathroom bears all the conveniences one would find in a more modern setting. A row of stainless steel washbasins with working faucets, a pair of conservative shower booths with running water, and a pair of toilets bedeck the tidy, yet well organized bathroom. The plumbing is unusual, though, in that the pipes and drains go into the walls and just seem to 'end' once out of sight. Those more familiar with the workings of magic would do well to suspect some sort of translocation spells are at work.
Exit to Living RoomFour double bunks sit constructed in these rooms, devoid of mattresses or bedding, nestled up against the walls of this bunkroom. A trio of cheery windows look out on the clearing and forest below.
Exit to Living RoomThe 'roof' of the house atop the second story is actually a simple L-shaped wood-floored balcony with a subtle grade to deflect the rain. A metal railing surrounds the edge of the rooftop, looking out on the clearing and forests that surround the humble settlement. At the corner of the rooftop is the only room for the third story, the master bedroom, with windows all around and a door leading in from the south.
Downstairs to Living Room | Enter the Master BedroomInside the master bedroom, red drapes line the corners of the walls, matching the red drapings of the four poster bed at the room's center. Up above the bed is skylight that lets in the sky above. A dresser stands in the corner, this one actually filled with clothing, and intricately woven rugs cover the otherwise chilly wooden floor. Candelabras line the walls between windows that look out on the wooded island scenery.
