It was a nice week for Dan and Coral...yesterday was Monday and today is Friday!  This also means that it was gymnastics day, but that was all she wrote for this entry.

October 2, 2004
We all got up and headed out to the soccer fields for Jordan's noon game.  It was a breezy day and not too hot, so that made the game very enjoyable.  After that, Coral went to a friend's birthday party and the rest of us got back to the house.  We weren't home too long when the insurance assessor came to look at the damage.  This process was so easy and painless compared to what we imagined!  Every wish was his command, and some.  He did a great job and we should get a check soon...now to the real work, getting the stuff done.

October 3, 2004
The great weather continued today...boy, what a difference a week makes!  Coral, Dan and Jordan (yes, Jordan!) went to church this morning.  Jordan did a great job and was good, so she will start making that trip on a weekly basis.  After that, Coral had CCD and Dan and Jordan went shopping for Pap and Grandma's birthdays.  After we got back, Amy and Jordan went to Coral's soccer game.  To cool off from the game, we did some swimming and had a cook-out on the back porch to finish up the weekend in style.

October 4, 2004
Coral spent the day at her friend Marisa's house, but nothing other than that exciting news to report once we got back to the grind.

October 5, 2004
Today was a the first rainy day since Dan repaired the roof...it held up pretty good and is not leaking as much.  Later, Coral had soccer practice.

October 6, 2004
On this over-cast, cool (Florida cool), wet, fall evening, Jordan had a make-up game instead of practice for one of the games they missed due to one of the hurricanes.  The kids were a little more wound-up than usual and didn't listen very well...you had to feel for Coach Robbie.

October 7, 2004
Coral and Jordan had their 6-month check-ups this morning...looks like both of them may have some costly teeth like their mother.  Maybe Ian will be the lucky one and have teeth like his dad...we will find out next time when Ian joins his sisters for his first visit to the dentist.  Other than that pricey news, nothing else exciting is going on here.

Happy Birthday to Pap (a.k.a. Mean Gene)!!!
After work, school and daycare, Jordan and Coral had gymnastics and then Dan had his bi-weekly card game, in which he broke even.  A good way to start the extended weekend!

October 9, 2004
Happy Birthday to Gramma (a.k.a., Jude)!!!
Today started with a trip out to Cocoa Beach for Jordan's soccer game and an attack by the red ants all over the field...no one got bit, but they were everywhere.  After we got back from that excursion, Dan washed the cars and Amy worked on remodeling the bathroom.  Later, Dan had another date with the gambling gods...he and a few of his "poker buddies" went on the "other" gambling ship, Sun Cruz.  This one was not as lucky for Dan and not at nice as Sterling Cruise Lines, but they do have a poker room on this one so it was worth trying out.

October 10, 2004
After Dan, Coral, and Jordan went to church and CCD for Coral, we got ready to enjoy one of the last days of swimming for the season.  The Shaffers came over and we all relaxed and enjoyed the half nice/half overcast day by the pool.

Happy Columbus Day and Date Day for Dan and Amy!!!
After Dan and Amy dropped off the kids at school/daycare, they had a day to themselves...finally!  First we went to Grills for a lovely and quiet breakfast where a few tables over the KSC Center Director, Jim Kennedy, and his wife and another couple were doing the same on their day off.  After that great meal, we did some lite shopping and looked like tourist at Cocoa Beach.  Then it was time to do the real shopping...for a tattoo for Amy, which Dan bought for Amy last year for her birthday.  We went to a few parlors to search for a design she liked and price them.  We then walked into Endless Summer Tattoo and found the right place and price.  She grimaced through the pain and came out with a tribal heart design on her lower back.  Once that was done, we stopped and got a drink to dull the pain and did some more shopping.  We finished out the day at the Pier for dinner and then got the kids.  Eventhough the very rainy day tried to dampen Dan and Amy's fun, it didn't work...they had a GREAT DAY.

October 12, 2004
Not much going on today...after getting back to work, school and daycare, Coral and Dan arrived at the soccer field just in time for practice to be cancelled due to wet conditions.  In other trivial news, the Jeep turned 12,000 miles today and the Bolton Bed and Breakfast has been empty for over a year with the last guests on October 11, 2003.

October 13, 2004
In a long line of luck in this year's soccer, Jordan's day of practice was a beautiful day and went without a hitch, unlike yesterday's for Coral...guess the younger kids need more practice.

October 14, 2004
For hopefully the last time this season, Dan cut the front yard.  As you can tell, there is not much excitement around here since all the hurricanes dissipated...not that we are complaining.

October 15, 2004
The big story of this weekend started with the first official cold front of the season moving through the area today...a well defined line of rain was followed by nice cool weather.  And you all thought that Dan didn't know what to do with his degree!

October 16, 2004
A very busy (but gorgeous) day started off with soccer activities early in the morning.  It was picture day for the league...Coral's team was at 8 am and Jordan's team was at 8:30.  After Coral's were done, the game was cancelled because the other team didn't have enough players, so they had a short practice instead.  Jordan's game also followed pictures, but it was on another field at Gardendale.  Once all action was completed and our entire family was on the same field, we watched Jordan's game where Jordan scored her first goal...for the other team.  Oh well, at least she got it in there!  Next it was time to do some halloween costume shopping...Coral is going to be a witch, Jordan is going to be a cowgirl, and Ian is going to be an army guy.  Our next impromptu plan was to go to a craft fair in Cocoa Village, but that idea was stomped by the lack of parking.  Once we got home, we enjoyed the perfect weather and did some work around the house.  Later, Dan went to a bachelor party for his new poker buddy,  at (Chuck's brother and the same guy that he was in the fender-bender with).

October 17, 2004
Amy took Jordan and Coral to church and killed some time with shopping while Coral was at CCD.  Later, we went over the Shaffers to enjoy another perfect (weather-wise) day, watch the Steelers beat the Cowboys, and partake in some grilled chicken.  The game lasted until evening time, so the kids got a bath and were ready for bed before we left.

October 18, 2004
A typical Monday...not much to report, just back to the grind.

October 19, 2004
Coral's team had a good practice, Jordan got a good note home, and Ian is making much more sense when he talks...Dan and Amy are ecstatic!

October 20, 2004
After work, school and daycare, it was time for Jordan's soccer practice, but just as they got started so did the rain and most importantly the lightning...so it was cancelled.

October 21, 2004
Jordan and the kids in her class took a field-trip to Exploration Station today...she had a "blast".  Coral started her First Reconciliation and Communion classes this evening also.  They started with reconciliation and learn all about forgiveness.

October 22, 2004
The exciting news of the day, other than the usual Friday gymnastics class, is that Amy finally talked Dan into switching from Dish Network to DirecTVso that we could get all the Steeler games along with the rest of the NFL with their NFL Sunday Ticket.  Starting next Sunday no more bummin' off of friends or going to bars to watch the Steelers...woo hoo!

October 23, 2004
For the first time this season, we all got to watch Coral's soccer team play.  Coral is getting much better especially on defense...she's got her dad's speed and her mom's long legs, which makes for a dangerous and fast combo.  After the game, we went to Our Savior's annual fair.  This was great because it wasn't crowded and it was a beautiful day.  By chance, the Shaffers were also there so we got to ride and hang with them for a while.

October 24, 2004
After church for Dan, Jordan and Coral and CCD for Coral, we had to get to the soccer fields for another first...two games at one time on separate fields.  Dan went with Coral and Amy and Ian went with Jordan.  After we got back, we were outside enjoying the nice weather...Dan fixed a few screens on the back porch and Amy watched the kids ride their bikes/big wheels/scooters.

October 25, 2004
Coral's last day of a three-day run of soccer games was this evening.  Coral scored a goal and the team looked pretty solid, but that is mainly because they had 5 players this time (instead of 4 over the last two days).  Later, Amy went to "formation class" for Coral's first reconciliation and holy communion...guess Amy has to learn the "Catholic ways" too (she needs to since she wasn't fortunate enough to be born into the true religion).

October 26, 2004
Coral's soccer daze continued today with a team practice...that should be it for a while with no games this weekend and only practice next week.

October 27, 2004
After work, school and daycare, Jordan had soccer practice...the Florida Remberts were joined by Amy's parents vacationing at the beach for a week.  Later, John distributed his kind gestures of Steeler pride (hats and t-shirts for everyone in our family) to spread the excitement of this season's surprise NFL team and rookie to the state of Florida before the big game on Sunday.

October 28, 2004
This evening was Gardendale's Pumpkin Patch Bash where all the kids dress up and play games at the school.  Dan and Coral got there first...she was dressed as a spider-witch.  Then Amy, Jordan and Ian came...Jordan was a cowgirl and Ian an army-guy.  They all had a blast at the bash, but especially Coral who didn't sit still all night long.  After that, Dan left for a Thursday special poker night...he did not do good, we will leave it at that and try tomorrow.

October 29, 2004
The day started off with Amy joining Jordan at her school's Harvest Festival & Pumpkin Patch for the kids (not Ian's age group).  Later after work, school, daycare, and gymnastics, Dan had a few friends over to fill the void of his regular, every-other week poker game because Pat (who's house the games are played) and most of the guys Dan plays with were preparing for a cruise where he will be wed to his long-time girlfriend, Jessie.

October 30, 2004
We all went to Jordan's soccer game in the morning and Amy and the kids went out to the beach with the Manions for the afternoon while Dan had to return for the new satellite system to be installed.  As everyone knows, you are told to be there and not move from 1 - 5 for the hi-tech scheduling fiasco and this was no exception.  After an arrival time of about 3 pm and a few mix-ups on the order, the system was in place and ready to go just in time for Dan and Amy's date night to begin.  For their date and for something different, Dan convinced Amy to go to dinner at a Japanese Steakhouse and then later they went for a few drinks at the port.

October 31, 2004
Happy Halloween to all and to all a good night!!!
Amy, Jordan and Coral did the usual Sunday Church/CCD/Shopping thing while Dan learned the new world of DIRECTV.  After mastering the remote and channel surfing, it was time to put it to good use as he watch a piece of every 1 o'clock NFL football game.  Once Dan woke from his TV-induced coma, it was time to go to the Shaffers for the BIG Steelers/Patriot game, some good food, and trick or treating.  Amy and John took the kids out to get the tricks and treats, but the big news was the Steelers ending the 21-game winning streak of the Pats...woo hoo!
