Wild Bergamot was one of the first prairie plants to bloom in our planting. A few plants bloomed near the end of their first growing season. Wild Bergamot is a member of the mint family. Behind the Bergamot, with fern-like leaves and white blossoms are some Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) plants. The Yarrow was very prolific in our planting; in late spring our entire prairie was white with Yarrow blooms for a time.
