Prairie Brome

Bromus kalmii

Prairie Brome is a cool season prairie grass which does not form agressive colonies as Smooth Brome does. Prairie Brome can be distinguished from Smooth Brome by its graceful nodding seedhead. The Prairie Brome plant in this photo is standing to the left of a Prairie Cinquefoil, which happens to be the next plant in this gallery.
