Canada Wild Rye tolerates conditions from fairly wet to very dry. It is a shorter-lived perennial than most prairie grasses, but it establishes easily and will also grow in areas with partial shade. In our prairie, Canada Wild Rye tended to appear in small amounts throughout the field without dominating an area or appearing in a patch.
