| Wheeler ran out of the office. Linka lay face down in a puddle of vomit and blood. Hers? Wheeler ran to her side and turned her over. She was still breathing fine. It wasn't hers. He held her body close to his and cried into her shoulder. He held her back from him and looked her over. Her ring was gone. A tranquilizer dart was lodged in her throat. "Wha... wha... what?" Wheeler could barely force the words. "In my day we wouldn't be this easy," a deep, gravely voice emainated from the shadows. "Did you like my artwork?" "That was your doing?" Wheeler demanded, rising up. A sharp pain toppled him over, and he clenched his stomach. Wheeler lay on the ground and uncurled. A small, metal tennis ball rolled from his stomach. A man in a dark-green body suit covered with pouches stepped forward. He reached down and pulled Wheeler's head back, hard. WIth his other hand he slipped Wheeler's ring off his hand. The man put the ring on his own hand. He showed Wheeler his hand with three rings. The index finger wore a red one, the middle had a ring with a white stone, and his ring finger had a GREEN-stoned ring. Wheeler was dumbfounded at this sight. "Green?" he mumbled. Captain Planet flew up to them. He saw Linka and Wheeler on the ground, and the man above them. A man he knew. "What are you doing here?" Captain Planet asked. "You mean: What am I doing here ALIVE? Well the answer is simple.... this!" The man explained before sucking the Captain into the rings. "All it took was a stronger will than you," the stranger explained to the rings. Part 4 |
