BIOGRAPHY
Or, the little bit I know about John Hawkes...
John was born and raised John Perkins in Alexandria, Minnesota (not Texas, as several sites have reported).  While attending Jefferson High School, he was in several productions including: Pigpen  in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown  (Nov. 1975); The Bringer of Water (Feb. 1976); Pappy Yokum in Lil' Abner (May 1976) (tons of thanks to Kodi for this information gleamed from the Jefferson music room wall!). After high school, he attended one year of St. Cloud State University in Minnesota before moving to Austin, Texas, where he remained for several years.  In Austin, he performed stage work for Big State Productions, and became a member of the national touring company of Greater Tuna.  Other stage work over the years has included regional productions of "In the West," "The Foreigner," "Streamers," "The Imaginary Invalid," and "Buried Child."  While in Austin, he also performed in a rock band called "Meat Joy".  After several years, he left Austin for Los Angeles.  He
wrote and starred in his own one-man show called "Nimrod Soul," which included several original songs throughout the show.  This was performed at the Theatre at the Improv.  He also started getting film roles, such as the one in "Rosalie Goes Shopping," and television appearances.  He also started a band with his cousin Mike, called "Slim and Guido," which performed accoustic sets around LA.  The band is still around, but now going by the name "Gangster Folk."  You can download and listen to two of their songs here.  John still lives in, and mainly works out of, Los Angeles.  He has made numerous television, and film appearances over the years. His most recently released film was "The Perfect Storm."  He has finished filming "Hardball," for which there is no definite release date.   You can get a more complete, and fairly accurate listing at www.imdb.com.

The above is all stuff from either various web sites (to be found on my
links page), or stuff I've been told through personal correspondances from those "in the know."  (Thanks so much guys. You all know who you are). Now for stuff I don't know (but have been asked):

I don't know if he's married, though if I had to guess, I would say no.

I don't know if he has a significant other of any sort.

An old friend "Flophouse Friend" says his middle name is Marvin.

This same friend says he's from large, close-knit family.

I don't know how tall he is. (5'9" ??? - "Flophouse Friend" says a little taller)

I do know, from all accounts, John is supposed to be a very nice, down-to-earth, quiet sort of guy.  Haven't heard a negative thing yet.

If you find any factual (or grammatical, or any other sort) errors on this page, please, please
e-mail me.  Also, if you've contributed some info, and want more credit, please let me know. I have no problem at all giving credit where it's due. I just don't want to put up any personal info here that you don't want me to. Of course, feedback is always welcome.
