Interview with Wes from One Left Standing

518:Could you say your name and what you do in the band?
OLS:My name is Wes and I play acoustic guitar.

518:How did oneleftstanding come together?
OLS:My old band Distant Future was together for about two-and-a-half years. We went through about 15 members in that time and it was very hard to keep focus in a non-dedicated band. Finally things just fell apart and everyone went their separate ways. I kept urging my bandmates to stick with it, but to no avail. Ultimately, I became the One Left Standing. Kinda cool eh?

518:Which song on your upcoming EP out MusicBox describes you the best?
OLS:That is a tough one because each song has a special meaning to me. Since I have to pick, I will say "It's About Time". The song is about how the scene in Pittsburgh is somewhat dead and my neverending quest to one day move to a place more thriving.

518:Do you have a favorite venue or venue(s) you like to play in?
OLS:The place I feel most home in is Angels Gameroom in Trafford, PA. The owner is a cool cat and I am always welcomed there.

518:Is 518 Music the best online music site ever?
OLS:Sure... 518 wips the heinie.

518:What's in your CD player right now?
OLS:I am on a Copeland/Something Corporate kick right now, but "officially" Armor For Sleep is in the player.

518:What is the coolest band you have played with and do you have any crazy stories from touring?
OLS:I really dug playing with the Teen Idols. They were really cool guys (and gal). What sucks is they broke up a week later so it makes me wonder if I was the indirect cause of their breakup. Oh well....

518:What made you get into a carrer in music?
OLS:I played trumpet growing up. It was forced on me. I was sitting in an elementary school classroom in 4th grade and I told the music instructor I wanted to play drums. He looked at me and said "We have too many drummers, you look like a trumpet player." True story. Infact, I just saw the guy the other day and told him about OLS. He was pretty stoked. Anyway, Metallica actually influenced me to pick up a guitar. My musical tastes and my playing have come a long way since then.

518:What are your plans for the next few months?
OLS:Well, I am going to self-release the Musicbox EP. It will have 4 songs; I wish I had the time and money to do more, but this will have to work for now. I am going to play some shows locally in Western Pennsylvania and I will be out at the Skate and Surf Fest in Jersey playing some hotel room shows @ the Berkeley Carteret so it should be fun times.

518:What's the last show you have been to and not performed?
OLS:Something Corporate $1 show. It was the tighest sounding show I have seen since the days of Student*Rick. I am seeing Audio Karate and Tokyo Rose in two days which I am anxious about.

518:That's really all the questions I have I wanna thank the one and only wes cryder from who is one left standing is there anything else you would like to say?
OLS:Sure, check out my music @ www.purevolume.com/oneleftstanding and my website at www.empusa.net/oneleftstanding. Thanks guys!
