Interview with Jordan from Jordan Tyler
518 Music: Could you introduce yourself and what you do in the band?
JT: My name is Jordan Tyler, I sing and play guitar
518: How did your music carrear come together?
JT: I got started when I was really young. I had played in numerous bands
ranging from pop-punk to hardcore. When I was like 16, I started writing more acoustic-oriented songs and found myself enjoying doing that alot more. I still listen to alot of punk and hardcore but I just wanted to do something from the heart instead of jumping on the bandwagon. but by the time I was 18, acoustic-oriented music became the "new trend" and everyone else was doing it so I kinda got lost in the shuffle but still kept going.
518:Who are your influences?
JT:Wow..Mike Ness, John Lennon, Bruce Springsteen
518:Who is in your cd player right now?
JT: Eighteen Visions: "obsession" Atreyu: "the curse", Every Time I Die: "hot damn"
518:Very cool, Those are mostly hardcore bands do you think you can bring a different edge to the acoustic rock scence with your music
JT: yes, I can.. I mean, with all the influences and bands I like, I write songs that people can relate to and get the hardcore kids into what I do
518:Very good idea almost opening the market rather than the a-tpyical i hate my girlfriend song
JT:Yeah, I mean, someday when I'm on Conan, I'll be sporting an eighteen visions shirt I'm tryin to write more non-love songs but sometimes it can be very difficult. Cause when I write a song and pick up the guitar, I just let whatever flow, ya know. and whatever fits best to the chords
518:What are your favorite things you like to do after recently moving out to california to pursue music can you give any advice to kids?
JT: never give up on your dream
518: Moving back to music are you looking forward to any new records coming out this year? for me it's the new Armor (for sleep)
JT:Man, there are gonna be alot of great records out soon but honestly, I went out and bought a bunch of new music that I haven't even had time to listen to
518:What are your plans for the next few months?
JT:Well, playing as much as possible and just getting out there ya know
