Interview with Chris from Another Constellation
518:Could you say your name and what you do in the band?
AC:My name is Chris, I play guitar, and sing, in Another Constellation I'm basically the whole band for now
518:How did Another Constellation come together and how did you come up with the name?
AC:I started writing my own songs when I use to be the frontman for the band Once for All, the name really just comes from the fact that in old days, greek and romans, that the people would share stories through the pictures in the stars, constellations, and most of the songs I was writing at the time were about my friends and things they were going through, it was not really abotu my life, so I figured these are the stories to go with the stories of old, so the name Another Constellation was born.
518:What sets Another Constellation apart from all of the other acoustic artists?
AC:Thats hard...my records are complety differnt then most other acoustic artist, I use electorincs, sythensier, stuff that jsut hasn't been done yet with other accoustic artist, I would want to say that my live show is different then most acoustic artist, but its not, if you ever go see a guy and his guitar, you kinda just want to sit, laugh and cry to these stories as he pours his heart out, you jsut want to relate, but the only thing thats sets me apart right now is the way i record, I want to do things that set me apart, I'm not lookign to become another Dashboard.
518:Do you have any favorite venues to play at?
AC:I have to say my fav. is The Lower Room, its a local venue for me in Florence,SC, but some of the kids give me a hard time because its a huge hardcore scene, and its hard to relate to the kids here because a guy and his guitar jsut doesn't do it for them, they give me the the energy and emotion to play and to take my music to a higher step.
518:Is 518 Music the best online music site ever?
AC:Hell Yeah!
518:What's in your CD player right now?
AC:the early november, static laulaby, zao, poor old lou, story of the year
518:What is the coolest band you have played with and do you have any crazy stories from touring?
AC:I did a tour last fall with a guy name Jordan Tyler (www.jordantyler.tk he is AMAZING), we became really good friends, he is an amazing musician, and just a great guy. The craziest thing happen to me last weekend when I was playing a show at DUKE UNIVERSITY with my friends, Once for All, and Winter Ferris (great bands everyone should check out), and well we were passing around flyers around the campus before the show, apparently a rugby game had just finsihed and one team was having a cook-out, and all of a sudden there is this loud roar from the group and 4 or 5 compeltly naked guys start running down this hill right at us and continued to run around the campus naked...its the craziest thing that has ever happened to me while i was one the road.
518:What made you get into music?
AC:I have always been in music since I was a little kid, but I had always been in the performing arts part of it, I'm a trained opera signer, a trained broadway singer, and a friend of mine who is the band Once for All, invited to come sing for them, and i started playign shows with them, and I became completly addicted to being on stage in front of people in that enviroment, but I've slowly been making the transition from performign arts to this style of music, its been really hard for me, but I'm still workign at it.
518:What is the last show you have been too and not performed?
AC:The last show I went to was Frontpage another great South Carolina band
518:What are your plans for the next few months?
AC: I am getting ready to go record my first full legnth called "DEAD MAN's CRY"...and in the works of a east coast tour in June with Jordan Tlyer, Time and Distance, The Unwanted, and Winter Ferris.
518:Well that's all the questions I have I truly wanna thank Chris who is Another Constellation for taking the time to do this with 518 Music and is there anything else you would like to say?
AC:Immm....this has been completely....uhhh rad :-)...it was my pleasure man...you just awesome for making a site like 518 Music.
