Traditionally, cradles were built for the first born grandchild by their grandfathers. Those cradles were handed down through the years and became heirloom treasures, many with brass plates engraved with the names and birth dates of the babies that slept in it. Many people today, long for those lost traditions. However, many parents nor grandparents are skilled in the wood craft. Thus many parents are forced to resort to purchasing their cradles from the high dollar department stores where quality, craftsmanship and love are left out of the building of the cradle. |
