~ The Idiot ~

FitzChivalry, royal assassin to King Shrewd. A bastard child of Prince Chivalry, he was taken to Buckkeep and put under the supervision of Burrich, the stablemaster there. He recieved training from Chade Fallstar. Fitz is armed with two types of magic-- the Skill, which he gets from the Farseer line, and the Wit, supposidly a taint left behind by his mother. At an early age, the Wit allowed him to be bonded slightly to a puppy, but this was killed when their bond was suspected. Later, Fitz would bond with a wolf named Nighteyes, who he raised from an angry, rebellious pup to an intelligent and very wise-minded creature.
Honestly, Fitz is really moody and tends to drink too much ^^ and, sometimes, I don't think he understands exactly what he wants. Honestly, he doesn't until probably the third book in the series. In the grand scheme of things, he isn't one of the really important people. True, he does bring about change, but it's in one of those nudge-nudge-from-sidekick type of ways. And his pride tends to be his downfall sometimes.
Fitz has the Farseers' dark hair, eyes, and brow. However, he was captured by Priince Regal and basically beaten, so now he also sports a large scar on his cheek from where it split from Regal's punch at his face, and a streak of white hair above his brow, from where his head was cracked. When things looked grim in Regal's dungeon, Burrich and Chade convinced Nighteyes to harbor Fitz's soul and for the young man to take poison, thereby killing himself. Afterwards, Burrich summoned Nighteyes and placed Fitz's soul back into his body, basically bringing him back to life.

As the Catalyst, Fitz is destined to bring about changes to the Six Duchies. He and the Fool seem to be two parts of a whole. Fitz's gift, the Skill, is something that he is not very adept at-- his personal walls are far too stubborn for him to give way and work the magic. Also, Fitz drinks Elfbark almost continously. It is a tea that revitalizes the body for a little while, but also deadens the Skill. Fitz, however, does not seem too sad to see it go. In the end of the Farseer Trilogy, it remains with him, and he feels the loneliness of being, really, the one real Skill user left in the Six Duchies.

Fitz and the Fool love each other as very close friends. Some people (mostly those who assert that the Fool is female indeed) believe that they will start a relationship in the Tawny Man series. I don't know if that should happen or not-- or if it would. Some people theorize that the Fool is actually Amber, a character from the Liveship Traders series (also by Robin Hobb). Amber is female, and bears a striking resemblence to the Fool. Whether he and Fitz will share a relationship remains to be seen.
He did, however, kiss Fitz on the lips at the end of Assassin's Quest...
