It is an initiative of the World Federation for Mental Heath since 1992, a mental health organization with members spanning across 150 countries including Australia, the United States and Ireland. This year’s theme is “Building Resilience”, that is, and individual’s ability to “bounce back” once they suffer hardship. Although resilience may not stop stressful or anxiety from occurring, it will definitely reduce the impact and time for recovery in our lives. The ten top tips in building resilience are: 1. Have the courage to be imperfect. 2. Take time for yourself. 3. Sign up for that course, join that club, be involved in your community! 4. Be active every day in as many ways as you can. 5. Spend time with people who make you feel good. 6. Laugh out loud each day! 7. Get your Zzzzz’s! 8. It’s all about team work! 9. Remember, this too shall pass. – Be positive! 10. Talk about your troubles! Source: Mental Health Ireland information website.
