| Special Education Services |
| Because these services are very expensive you have the "qualify" to receive Special Education Services. Each state has their own guidelines for this qualification. If you suspect that your child has LD, please schedule an appointment with his/her teacher to determine if testing is necessary. |
| Through testing, it will be determined if the student is having learning difficulty caused by the way his/her brains processes information. It also has to be severe discrepancy between what they are able to learn (how smart they are) and how much they have learned (achievement). In some cases, some students show information processing difficulty but his academic skills are not found discrepant from their ability. In these cases, the student has learned to cope with LD. |

| No two students are alike in their Learning Disabilties and the way that they learn. The only thing all LD students have in common is they all get frustrated. |
| LD never goes away, but with understanding and effort you can learn to use your strength to compensate for your weaker processing skills. Example: you may have difficulty reading about how to ride the bike, but if someone showed you, you could use your visual skills to learn how to ride it and ride it just as well as everyone else. There are many successful and famous people who have LD. |
