General Information



San Carlos is located 'just over the mountain' from the busy port town of

Guaymas, Mexico and is known for it's great

fishing, diving, golf, marina, lagoons ,and beautiful beaches.

 

San Carlos, Mexico is located just 325 miles due south of Tucson, Arizona via

Arizona highway # 19 (4 lane divided highway)which merges into Mexico Highway #15

(4 lane modern highway) upon crossing the border.

Best and easiest is to take the #189 Mariposa bypass turn off (Exit  #4) from

the highway# 19 at Nogales, Arizona. This is the new route & border crossing that

takes you right to Mexico Hwy# 15

At the Mexican border you can get your Tourist Visa (it's free, just show your

U.S. passport or birth certificate)

Near kilometer 30 on the Hwy will be the 'Migration/Aduana', the program 'Only

Sonora' permits for your car are gotten here in the office (on the way back

through pull into the "Only Sonora' line to give the permit back & have the

sticker taken off your window) Whenever driving your vehicle have the permit

with you,or the vehicle may be confiscated at the governments random vehicle

checkpoints.

There are two 'toll stations' along the highway to San Carlos which charge cars

about $40 peso's each way (slightly more for RVs & trailers, boats)

Regular Aeromexico Airlines daily flights from Tucson/Phoenix, Arizona land at

the airport 12 miles away.

It's a Sonoran  premiere beach resort (all built since the  1970's) offering

visitors an escape to  beautiful blue-green bay's where diving, fishing

(marlin, swordfish, barracuda, red snapper, yellowtail, sea

bass, halibut),sailing, jet-skiing, kayaking, swimming, white sand beaches(El

Creston, Frenchies Cove, Lalo Cove,Las Mangas,Los Algodones-('Catch 22 beach),San

Carlos Beach),large yacht marinas, an 18 hole golf course at the San carlos

Country Club with gren fees at $45 (U.S.) ,Club Med, and time shares all come

together.

Located just 20 miles north of the active port city of Guaymas (population

140,000) the area is locally referred to as 'New Guaymas.'Catering to travelers

& wealthy Guaymas family's seeking their own recreation and relaxation.

Climate-Weather  is mild-usually calm up to early October with mostly sunny days

year round, average temperatures range from 64 degrees in December to 89 in July

,and a yearly rainfall of 10 inches usually during the summer months.
