Better Time

The fishing season goes from March to November, and the months between July and October are the best ones for fishing with lures, above all of the Matrinxas and the Trairoes. 

Equipments 

Throw fishing: Rods for casting and spinning reels, with length between 1,80 and 2,10 meters, of medium-heavy potency (MH); lines with resistance between 17 and 25 pounds and leaders of flexible steel with a snap in the tip. Related lures, the most effective are the floating type like zara, poppers and sticks, and the running floating or slow sinking ones sizing between 12 and 15 centimeters. Metallic spoons and spinners are also very efficient, especially in the Matrincha fishing. 

Fishing with natural baits: Rods of heavy-weight potency; casting and spinning reels of good quality and compatible size; lines with resistance between 25 and 50 pounds, and fishhooks sizing between 4/0 and 8/0 for Trairoes and leather fish, between 2/0 and 4/0 for other fishes. 

Fly fishing: two groups being one of number 9 for Trairoes and another of number 6 equipped with lines WFS or WFI, and flies streamers, poppers and bugs type. 

Accessories: covered flexible steel wire for leader with resistance between 25 pounds and 50 pounds; swivels n° 1 to 3, resistant snaps of n° 1 to 3, and olive type sinkers weighting between 30 and 200 grams. 

For personal use: suntan lotion, repellent oil, polarized glasses, cap or hat, raincoat and shirts.

The Pium (kind of mosquito) attacks the whole day and a repellent oil is fundamental to avoid discomfort. Allergic people should take anti allergic medicine also. 

Services 

Xingu Refuge Amazonian have comfortable chalets, with private bathroom, shower with hot water, fan and electric power 24 hours a day. The nautical part counts with boats of 5 meters equipped with motors of 15 HP, chairs, and electric motor.
