I began collecting reels a few years ago when I found out I was too poor to afford most of the old fishing lures that had begun to be so highly sought by collectors. Fortunately there were, and still are, a few affordable reels out there floating around as well as some really nice rods. As of late, my collecting has focused mainly on Mitchell reels Conolon rods, and various spinning reels. In addition, I am interested in other old bait casting, spinning, and saltwater reels.

This web site is dedicated to those that appreciate the well-made, mass manufactured reels of the 20th century. For the most part, these are the reels that the working class man or woman could afford. Many of these old reels will command a much higher price today than most of us fishing and collecting enthusiasts would have ever imagined.

Collecting fishing tackle can be a good investment as well as an enjoyable hobby. While many old reels are selling for extremely high prices, there are still bargains to be found. Internet auctions are not the best place to find good buys, however, one can still find an occasional bargain. Garage sales, flea markets, antique shops, and estate auctions are good bets for finding collectable reels and other tackle.
