Robert caught this net of bluegills to win the season closing event and secure 3rd place in the 2004 CBA League.

Elise was second and the gold fish she caught was the only "bonus" fish of the match. Besides bluegills, few shiners were also caught.

Paul finished third fishing waggler for most of the match and then switching to a short whip in the last hour.

Mirek caught most of his fish with his 8-meter Bolognese rod.

Match 11
Lake Arlington, Arlington Heights, IL. October 30, 2004.
Not the best day for fishing - it was like sitting in a wind tunnel - the South-West wind was battering the competing anglers with gusts close to 50mph!  The most important thing to report is that nobody got hurt and no poles/rods got broken.  Also, everyone managed to catch fish!  It was impossible to fish with poles longer than 10 meters.  Peter Wolan was brave enough to fish at 9.5 meters and that's where he caught most of his 10 lbs of bluegills. Robert Wolan fished with a 8 meter pole and caught 1 nice carp and some bluegills for over 9 lbs. and second place.  Derek Aniolkowski finished third with the bulk of his fish caught with a match rod fished at 30 meters.

NWMA Championships - Match 9 & 10
Schaumburg Municipal Center, IL., September 18-19, 2004
The match was contested over two 2-1/2 hour heats. There was only one carp caught in the first heat (by Peter Wolan) otherwise it was all out bluegill match. It was tough fishing, especially in the second heat because we fished the same pegs in the afternoon as we did in the morning. Debbie Compton once again showed her bluegill catching skills and won the match with just 3 points. Robert Wolan was second and Elise DeVilliers and Bernice Bradley followed in 3rd and 4th.
On a sadder note, after the match, NWMA officials announced this would be the club's final championships.

Robert, Debbie and Elise

NWMA held its final championships on the same lake in Schaumburg where the club had begun.
The first NWMA Championships, fished here seven years earlier,  were also won by Debbie Compton.

CBA Championships - Match 7 & 8
Fox River & Canal, Montgomery, IL., August 28-29th, 2004
The match was contested over 2 days - on Saturday we fished on the Fox River and on Sunday we moved to the canal. The river was higher than in previous days and some anglers decided to fish with 3-5 gram flat floats. However, Peter Wolan - who had the best weight of the day - was using a 2 gram round bodied float. Bunches of maggots fished on size 14 hook were Peter's most productive bait. The fishing was much tougher on Sunday on the canal side. Derek took good advantage of his end peg and caught 5 carp and 1 catfish on the long pole fished at 9 meters. Paul Wells also put together good weight fishing the method feeder to the far bank. The weights on both days could have been a lot higher but a lot of fish were lost: almost every angler competing lost at least one good fish each day.
