Match 5
Naperville Municipal Center, July 25th, 2004
This was our first match at this venue so nobody new what to expect. Mirek Rydlewski was switching between the long and short poles to catch small bluegills and bonus carp. He also caught a club record breaking 6.8 lbs. catfish that helped him to secure the first place. Elise had a good net of bluegills with 1 bonus carp. Robert Wolan was third with 4 small carp and some bluegills. Jim Swanson did very well in his first CBA match. Fishing with a short telescopic whip for almost the whole 4 hours Jim caught 14 lbs. of bluegills and ended up in 4th place.

Match 3
Lincoln Park Lagoon, Chicago, IL. May 1st, 2004
Lincoln Park Lagoon is the place where new records are set but unfortunately - not this year.
Cold wind and rain forced some anglers to wrap things up early, and after 3 hours of fishing we decided to stop the match.  Bites were few and far between; the top three anglers had 1 carp each, other fish included shiners, bluegills, and gobies. Peter Wolan  had the biggest carp of the day and it secured his win. Peter fished at 7 meters with corn on the hook.  Jarek Gwarnicki had a good day fishing with Bolognese rod at 7 meters. Jarek caught one carp and some shiners and bluegills using maggots on the hook.

Match 2
Volcening Lake, Schaumburg, IL. April 18th, 2004
Volcening Lake was in it's best form and beside some gusty winds, the weather was perfect for fishing. Our junior angler, Max Ford was definitely the big story of the day.  He came to the match with a solid plan and impressed everyone with his performance.  Fishing the pole at 9.5 meters with corn on the hook and feeding small balls of groundbait after every few fish, Max managed to keep carp and bullheads coming steadily for the duration of the match. He ended up with over 22 pounds, which was the second heaviest weight of the day.  Derek Aniolkowski won section A with over 46 pounds of mostly small carp. Most of the fish were caught with short pole just 4 meters from the bank. Derek fished with single grain of corn on size 16 barbless hook with 6 lbs line and small .25 gram float.  Paul Wells won in section B fishing the long pole at 9.5 meters. He forgot his rigs at home so had to use a borrowed .4 gram float on 4.9 lbs line to size 14 hook. For bait he used RichWorth tuttie-frutti flavored corn fished 8" over-depth (8" of line laying on the bottom). Paul also caught the biggest fish of the day.

Match 1
Lake Arlington, Arlington Height, IL. April 3rd, 2004
The weather wasn't very kind on the opening day of our 2004 League.  The cold wind was blowing across the lake and we were lucky that no poles/rods got broken during the 4-hour competition.  After a very slow start, few fish started showing up on some of the pegs but the action was definitely slower then we are used to at Lake Arlington.  In the second half of the match Peter Wolan found a pattern that seemed to work best for him.  He presented 3 maggots one foot over the bottom and allowed the drift to drag his float to provoke bites from the finicky fish.  With 40 bluegills and 1 bonus bass Peter weighted over 14 pounds to secure his first win of the season.  Derek Aniolkowski finished second with about 20 bluegills on red worms fished on the bottom.
