"Brother John Paul Mary (Paddy Kelly) former member of the famous Irish group, The Kelly Family, appeared in Medjugorjie for the first time since entering the monastery of St. Johannes. He stood before a large crowd and spoke about his new life with God. Before tens of thousands of people Paddy spoke, saying " Do not be afraid, for you are the holy ones of the new millennium."
Then he continued on. " I came here today to tell you about a true story of a boy who was allowed a life of fame and fortune for many years in the eye of the music industry. But, this did not make the boy happy at all. In fact, it became so bad, that he realized that he could no longer go on living this way, he would rather be dead, then to live that life any further. But as he stood there, looking into the face of death, that when a great change happened. Despite all his tears, the boy was given hope through God. He began to read the bible each day, and through the bible he was given hope. At last, one day, the boy met a priest. After talking much with the priest the boy knew he wanted to repent for his sins in the past and join the holy confession. He also thought, that maybe he too would also become a priest. As if by accident, one day, he was flipping through the channels when he saw documentry on the Pilgrimage of Lourdes At first he thought, this is a place for old stuffy people! Not a place for a rock star!
Brother John Paul Mary continues on his discovery, "In this boy's simple deep peace, in his heart, he felt the presence of "someone" else. Maria is not an illusion. So the boy went on and was baptised. He was not aware that you could make contact with God as not only a spirit, but also in your human form. This amazed him. In the same night he was baptised, the boy decided to give his life a chance. No more would you submit to selfish decisions, but look to God for the will of everything. So, he bought a rosary and began to pray daily. At first he only prayed upon 3 beads a day, but soon it became 3 rosarys and then it was four." With this, the audience of St. Johann's burst into applause.
"In the summer of 2000, The Kelly Family, as a whole, went to Medjurgorjie for the first time. They were looking for help for an ill family member. There, they met Priest Jozo Zovko, who helped assist them in a deep prayer with God. After this, the boy decided to go with the priest to St. Johannes in Rome. There he knelt throughout the Basilika of the HI.Petrus. He did not know where it would lead him. He began to visit the brothers of the HI more and more, and learned what a Christian truly is. He began to question himself more often about becoming a brother of the Priesthood. After experiencing the uncoditional love of the priesthood, all his questions were answered, and he wanted to unite with them.
After visiting Medjurgorjie many more times, he decided one day, that he must give his life to God in a more radical way. The boy at the time, even had a girlfriend who said to him, "If you are more happy with Jesus, then please go." Then the boy knew his love was pure, because he was more concerned with pleasing Jesus than himself! He was no longer a victim of himself, but his love had been sacrificed for a larger love. At the end, shortly before entering the monestary, the cruel moment came when heI had to break the hard news to his family. To say goodbye to the music, in order to have Jesus. He did not know what would happen, but he knew it was right. "
After his story, Brother John Paul Mary sings the song, "Thanking Blessed Mary" and touchs the hearts of thousands of people from all over ther world.
