This was our very first outing for our group. At first the leaders decided upon Cactus Club Cafe as the meeting and eating place. However, on the day of the event, we all decided that we would rather have sushi instead...We all got a sudden urge to eat sushi...haha... Anyways, we were lucky to have gotten a table at the restaurant on a Friday evening without reservations...what a gamble hey? It was pretty busy there as it is one of the most recommended places to have sushi in Vancouver (by word of mouth)! We had a hard time deciding whether to go for the All-You-Can-Eat route or the ordering separately route. After the waiter bothered us many times...we chose the all you can eat route and went crazy on the ordering of the items of the menu (kinda resembled the New York Stock Exchange when brokers are there shouting out orders).
"Look at our table loaded with sushi! I think we were able to eat most of it by the end of the night...and more...." From left to right around the table we have: Ming Jung, Agus, Michael, Emily, Ingrid, Mike (Ingrid's Friend) and Dorothy.
We didn't realize the amount of food that we ordered until they all came to us at once. Just look at the picture of us sitting at the table and you'll be amazed! Better yet, we we're thinking about sticking around to have night snack as well since it was so early at the time (Just Kidding...heehee =D). But we did stay quite a long time...around 3 and a half hours at the restaurant. You must be saying to yourself "What did they do there right?!" Well, since we had a small group that evening, it made for weird and wacky conversations that everyone could be a part of. We got to know more about each other...especially Agus and his childhood/teenage experiences...that was awesome! Anyhoo, we all had a great time that evening. Too bad more people from our group couldn't have come to our first event. The planning was a bit rushed (we only had 10 days to implement our first activity) and we didn't have all the contact information from everyone in our group right away. The timing was bad too as this event took place during midterm time. But everything has settled down now...and hopefully we will have larger and better events for our group in the coming months! ^_^
