| The founder of the Boys' Brigade is Sir William Alexander Smith. He started BB on the 4th of October 1883 at Free Colledge Church Misiion Hall located at North Woodside Road, Glasgow, Scotland.It was called the 1ST GLASGOW. |

| THE FOUNDER |
| Sir William Alexander Smith was born 27th October, 1854 at Pennyland House, Thurso, Scotland. He was an Officer with the 1st Lanark Rifle Volubteers. He founded BB in 1883 and became full time Brigade Secretary in 1888. He was knighted in 1909 by KIng Edward the IIV for his work among youths. He died on the 10th of May 1914 at the age of 60. |
