Week 16 is now complete and
we have a new champion. Congratulations to the Ruffians as they
defeated the Jedi Knights to claim the 2003 championship.
Ruffians defeated Jedi 92-84 to win their championship.
Ruffians received a great performance from RB J. Lewis who should
be the MVP of his team because he is the reason they have come this
far. Ruffians completed the latter part of their season with an
excellent performance which includes a 7 game winning streak. It was a
perfect ending to an amazing run, congratulations.
Despite
facing an uphill fight, The Jedi Knights fought gallantly
against the Ruffians in the championship game. The loss of C.
Portis a week earlier proved to be too great a hurdle and despite a
valiant effort, the Jedi Knights fell short in their attempt to
repeat as champion. Its a tough circumstance to lose under but it was
a great run for this team as well and the outcome of this championship
could only help strengthen the will and desire of this team to once
again return to the championship game in 2004. If there is one thing
we know about the Jedi Knights and their owner is their
resiliency and there is no question this team will always be a force
to be reckoned with, congratulations to them on their 2nd place
finish.
The Cape
May Raptors bounced right back after losing a tough division
playoff game in week 15 to win in the consolation game this past week.
The Raptors took their frustrations out on Hudson Syndicate
148-59 to finish their impressive season in 3rd place. Like any true
competitor, I know the Raptors wish they were playing for a
championship instead of a consolation. Despite this, The Raptors
have accomplished a great deal in their 2nd year in the league: a 3rd
place finish, 2nd best record in league history, and best record this
year are all worthy accomplishments that show how successful this team
was this year, congratulations to them.
It looks
like Hudson Syndicate may have used all of their "shots" in the
week 15 thriller against Jedi because they did not have
anything left and could not amount any offensive against the
Raptors. The loss ends the Syn's season in 4th place,
something that may have seemed impossible to reach at times toward the
end of the season. The Syn showed their resiliency as the
fought all the way thru to finish 4th, congratulations to them. Now
the focus will shift to the off season and perhaps a rebuilding of
this team in order to return to the championship caliber this team has
displayed in the past.
Random Observations
-
Ruffians capped their
season in style as they finished with a championship on the
strength of 7 straight wins, now that's peak performance. This gives
them 3 championships.
-
I can't believe it but the season has come to an end. It was a lot
of fun and I wish there was more still left. I know I'm not the only
one that is looking forward to next season already.
-
I will send emails, most likely after the new year, to everyone to
let them know about the all star voting, coach of the year award, &
the award luncheon.
- I would like to take
this opportunity to thank the VP for his assistance with the league
schedule.
- I
would also like to thank the editor of the Fantasy Files and the
G-Spot. The time they dedicate to always giving us something to read
and talk about is greatly appreciated.
- I
also want to thank James for the time spend looking for a site to
host our draft and to Jenny for her devotion and willingness to
provide this league with the food that we have come to enjoy every
year. I also want to thanks her for taking care of the book keeping
and finances of this league.
- It
has become customary for me to leave this for last but it definitely
its not least, I would like to thank our ownership. The time devoted
and your commitment helps keep this league strong, challenging, and
competitive.
- Its
been a pleasure been the commissioner once again, I look forward to
seeing all of you at the luncheon.
- As
our season comes to an end, from me & my family to you and your
families, I would like to wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy
& safe new year.
