CHAPTER FOUR

ONE MONTH LATER…

I’ll get up in a minute…
She was so tired. Alette was already feeling bad for days. She didn’t know what it was, but it was exhausting her. She tried to hide it from Rich, because she didn’t want to make him worried when he was so busy. They were living together for two months now, and only the time they needed to drive to eachother’s flats they spend extra together. It was hard to live with a popstar. But good, though.

What’s happening to her?
Rich looked down on his girlfriend in bed. She really should get up to go to work, but she needs the sleep. He decided to ring her job to say she was ill.
When Rich came back, Alette was still asleep, curled up in the blankets. She’d lost weight and her eyes were sunken deep in her face. He should go, but hesitated, unwilling to leave her.In the end, he gently woke her up and asked:"Will you be alright, love? I called your job so you can stay home, but should I stay with you?"
Alette’s eyes were full of tears looking up at Rich’s handsome worried face. "Go, Ritchie," she said. "Thanks, baby, you’re the sweetest, but I’ll be alright. I love you."

THE NEXT DAY…

This can’t be true.
Alette shook her head to wake up, but it wasm’t a dream. The doctor really just told her.
"You’ve got cancer, miss. You probably won’t get better. I’m sorry."
Her life fell apart. This couldn’t be happening to her. That was just for a bad romance story. Not her. Not Rich. He’d have so much pain. Even in that awful moment she didn’t think of herself. What a girl. An idea formed in her head as the doctor told her she had to come to the hospital in two days for some more research. She didn’t really listen. She had to hurt Rich, but if she succeeded in her plan he’d have less pain then if he saw her die.
Shutup. Please shut up. I don’t wanna hear this.
Rich put his hands over his ears and shouted:" I can’t be hearing this! It’s not true! Don’t lie to me!"
"I’m not Rich. I’m leaving you. There’s someone else." said Alette, trying her very best to sound harsh.
"I thought you loved me" he whispered.
"I don’t Rich. I never see you. He is there for me whereas you aren’t." Every word cut through her soul as a knife, knowing it was a full lie. But she wanted to save him.
"Go then" he said in a broken voice. "Go. I can’t stand your sight anymore."
