Newcomer's Corner

So you're new to all this I presume? Wondering what we're all about I guess? Well you've clicked the right link, otherwise you'd be wallowing in your own confusion! Anyways, onto business!

This is a Semi-Freeform Role Play site, using a chat-based program called IRC to do active role playing. When we roleplay is whenever we have enough people online, but it's always a blast when you have a ton of people into it! If you can, you can download this program (and don't worry, it's free, and virus free) and type /server irc.sorcery.net then /join #ffrpg and you're there! Make sure to have a good username for yourself too. I'll take it step by step down below to show you how it's done. Right now, more about the RPG!

This RPG is based from a year after the game, Dirge of Cerberus. Now, Final Fantasy 7 is great n'all, but it's not what we're totally about. We have allowed a portal under the Shinra Headquarters so that other Final Fantasy characters can come back and forth between realms. Think of it like Stargate, except different. You're allowed to play from FF6 to FF12, which to me is fair. I only know about up to there anyways. Hahaha. But if you want to role play an earlier on character, just say so and we'll see. Now what's going on in the FF7 world? Check Settings for that!

Do you -have- to role play a Canon Character? No. You don't. I'm not forcing you, but it'd be nice to get the majority of them out of the way. If you want, you can role play your own character, AND have a Canon, or just your own, or just a Canon. The amount of characters you have isn't up to me, as long as you save some for the rest! Also, it is HIGHLY recommended to read the RPG Rules, just so you won't get into a heep of trouble!

Now why do I say semi-freeform? We're working on a dice script. Right now all battles are based upon the rolls of the dice. To make it simple, each basic attack is rolled from a 1d20 dice script. Confused? Yeah thought so. I'll cover the bases on the dice script at a later time. It's a beta project right now, thus we're just freeforming till it's all done. So skip this if you want.

Ok! Onto the program. First, be sure you're ALLOWED to download mIRC, and if you are, good. If not, just go to this link and it'll send you to a java chat. Make sure to put in a GOOD username and type in #ffrpg as the channel. Clickie!

As for the rest of you, follow me. Download mirc here: mIRC
  • Make sure it's installed, then open it.
  • You'll see empty boxes after the intro. If you do, good!
  • Fill them in. Be sure to put in your username. Alternate means the username you'll have if you accidently get disconnected from the network. Fill that in too. Oh, and your name and email DOESN'T have to be your actual email and name. That's not for anything at all, but fill it anyways.
  • Click Ok.
  • Type this in: /server irc.sorcery.net
  • Once connected, type /join #ffrpg
  • and you're there! If you get lost, there's always an FAQ.

Yay! You should be fine from there. My username is Silverlune so you'll find me as that. If not, then Xeno is there to bug. Have fun! Hopefully this helped some.
