This Just In My teacher has just finished giving a speech. It was a grand speech that brought about many thoughts related to so many real life situations. I ask this? Why, at the end of a preformance, must we stand up? What if I didn't think it was worth the oh-so generic, "Standing O". Cynical you say? I am not alone.Steve was at the local theatre peoples production of Footloose last night. When the curtain fell and the clapping began he knew it was coming. He watched as his peers rose to their feet, "over-joyed" by the local feel good show. He knew it was not his time. He could not stand. Can you not relate to this? More often than not these events are amateur. Not good, "wow that was entertaining" amateur, but just plain shat. However he did not feel that the production was comparable to shat. He just didn't think it was worth standing up for. He still has some respect for the standing ovation. It's too bad that our world has come to a point where people stand up for everyone. If an act sucks, you need to let them know. If they are determined to make it, they will process your comments and actions into worthwhile ideas that will improve their work. Standing up at every little two bit show not only inflates the heads of those involved, it depreciates your demand for good entertainment. Be like a Steve, don't over applaud. Just demand a good show. In other news I'm coming out of a bad week of school work, plus i've been hanging out with Andy H a lot, so I will hopefully have more time see all of you. Except Simon.
