And away we went! We spent 2 weeks back there, and spent much of our time with our friends Joe and Kathy.
We knew them from the pipe band, and they were our home away from home for a few years during all those parade filled weekends. They moved to Suffolk, VA in August.
They have a digital camera, and that is why we have photos up to view so quickly ;-) Of course, we don't have any pictures of South Carolina, where the 4 of us spent time galavanting around Charleston and environs. So all these lovely pictures of Virginia will have to suffice.

Being from the Sacramento Valley, the most ice we Californians ever experience is that what you can scrape off your windshield at 7 in the morning. Here, there is ice thick enough to stand on (in the right circumstances!), and David was infatuated with it. |

Joe and Kathy live not to far from Dismal Swamp. To the left, you see a water filled ditch. This ditch was built under the direction of General Washington, as in George, by locals. I believe it stretches about 4 miles over to a lake. There also used to be a settlement here, called nothing other than Dismal Town. Nowdays this area is inhabited by black bears. |

We were happily watching Cops, when all of a sudden Joe looks out the back window.
"Dude, it's freaking snowing!" he says, and their first REAL snow of the season was upon us all. Joe and David immediately went outside to make snowdudes. |
