CEX 500Y
This car has surfaced thanks to a chap called Adam who having bought the car then found this website and realised it wasn't listed, so the kind lad emailed these pics to me. I am particularly pleased to see this car as it's the first Fly I've seen registered in my home county of Norfolk (EX).
Adam says the car is 1300 Sport. DVLA info says it has a 1298cc engine and was registered on 25/8/82.
At some stage the car has lost its side stripes which would have included a large slanting "S" on the rear quarter panel above the rear bumper. These late mk1 Sports also had mk3 Escort L 8 hole steel 13 inch rims with a coloured insert and 155/70 -13 tyres
As can be seen, the car has been given the all too familiar treatment a lot of Mk1's have received over the years, namely the XR2 pepperpot alloys with 185/60 -13 tyres and an XR2 bodykit. Look carefully though as the kit doesn't appear to be an original XR item as it also featured a sill moulding.
This Sport brings to two the number of Fly Sports I know of, the other being
B654 PNA which itself is a bit strange as it was registered very late and featured the pre 82 facelift stripes when I saw it at FordFair in the mid 1990's. There's also the white sport featured on the Fly brochure which has yet to surface, if it hasn't already been scrapped.
Update 20th August 2007 - This car has just sold on Ebay for over 900.
