Lights, Guitar, Mic & Crowd. Is what you see and hear from the stage really what you get? With a soothing voice, deep words, and a charming smile, John Mayer has made his way into the hearts of America. His first major album, room for squares, gives off a message that many can relate to. He is basically called the next Dave Matthew's and for good reason. But, who really is he? Given two interviews, I have been blessed and punished by getting to know him and what I have found is a man untainted by fame. In fact, he reminds me of many average guys. With his arrogates, his stubbornness, his sarcasm and humor, John is just a man going through a new a new experience. May it make him grow up if that's possible. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- His eyes widen as they review the words on he glossy page in front of him. His mouth quickly becomes dry as it all slowly seeps in. How could she? How dare she! Was this for real? This had to be some kind of joke! "Arrogant! Stubborn! What the fuck!" He yells as he looks at the magazine before quickly through it away from him. "Who the hell does she think she is?" Shaking his head, a copy of the magazine in hand, Scott sighs some in annoyance. "She is the voice of NOW, That's who she is. John, of all the people out there WHY did you have to give her a hard time?" "I gave her a hard time?" John says in astonishment before pointing to Dave who sits silently in the corner. "SHE CAME TO ME!" Looking up, Dave gives an innocent smile before sluggishly slipping down in his seat and closing his eyes. "I... didn't mean to..." "That's it! She wants a war she has it now. The gloves are off!" --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "How could you let this go to print!" Shaunna yells before slamming down a copy of the article upon Dani's desk. "In the last three hours, people have been calling over this! you upset his fans, you upset him AND..." Dani sighs as she looks up at her friend tiredly. She knows about the up roar all to well as angry emails flood her account and people around the office glare. "Shaunna! I know. Step off. I tried to write about the music but in both interviews he gave no insight." "Both interviews?" Shaunna questions with a puzzled look as she stands up straight, hands on her hips much like a mother in rage. "Yeah.. both," Dani mumbles as she looks down at her desk. Last night she had been impulsive. Something she never is. She had a great time, more so then ever even with old boyfriends but how could she say that? She couldn't write in a magazine what happened, what was said... no. She had to be rude, had to smoother out whatever had made her nervous. "Ok... explain," Shaunna says in a slow voice as she brings Dani out of her thoughts. Dani bites upon her lower lip as her eyes look up at her friend. Her heart beat kept racing but why? Sighing she shrugs her shoulders some. "I.. I went to his hotel room last night," it came out like a whisper but in her mind was screamed. Clearing her throat she looks to the side before continuing. "To finish the interview and well he gave me a hard time again. What is in print there is what I got." Stunned, Shaunna has a seat in one of the chairs across from the desk, blinking a couple times. "Dan.. you could have just not..." "NOT WHAT!" She yells, standing up quickly only to hover over her desk, glaring at her friend. "Not don't my job! Not been a professional?" Shaunna winces some as she frowns, understanding her friend is coming from but squeamish from the anger. "I... I don't know I guess this just.. well sucks." --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Home | Cover | Back to John | Chapter 5 | Chapter 7 |
