| Chapter 4 - A Messy Situation | |||||
| The crowd inside the conference room and outside the doors couldn't be more stifling. Everyone seemed to be in some impatient rush just like everywhere else in the business world. People on cell phones talking to god no who while other reporters gossip about scoops and their prize winnings. Some people do the dramatic sighs while reading a news paper, most likely their own column to make themselves feel better while others do the hyper child like impressions. Dani, with Shaunna, were unlike the rest however as they stood in the hallway towards the end, not talking but not looking bored. Just standing and waiting, in no rush though in all honesty both girls were anxious. The idea of waiting however on one man and due to Dani making them late, being scheduled as the very last interview for this session didn't help. "So what are you going to ask him?" Shaunna asks, biting her lip as she breaks the silence for her own sanity. She for the life of her couldn't stop thinking about the web page and to get her mind off it, bugging Dani could always be an option. Startled by the sudden question, Dani quickly straightens up, pushing off the wall she had been leaning against only to shoot a confused and surprised glance in her friends direction. What was she going to ask him? She hadn't really thought of it considering she forgot their was an interview at all today. "Uhh.." she starts as she collects her thoughts. Could she fake questions to Shaunna now? Would she be caught. "Dani... you do have questions right?" Shaunna asks as she senses Dani's uneasiness and the fact she was tensing visibly. Dani gives a weak smile, it quickly passing just as quick as it came before she shakes her head some. It wasn't like her to be so unprepared and knowing her friends attitude all morning, this wouldn't be welcomed news. "I.. I don't even know his music. I don't anything really just his name is John Meyer and he is some type of musician you're crushing on..." she admits, her shoulders sluggishly drooping. "Mayer. His name is John Mayer your idiot," Shaunna says as she stands up straighter, an idea of panic coming to the very organized and always on top of things blonde. "Oh god... Dani... you can't go in there like this!" Dani steps back from her friend as she begins to bug out some. Never being one for public scenes that would include her being involved, she blushes, looking around only to find a few people staring. "Shaunna pipe down," she hisses softly so only her friend can hear before taking a deep breath. "Relax.. I can do this. We'll be fine. I'll just make it an interest piece more on him then the magazine. We can call it 'John Meyer, Skin Deep!'." "MAYER!" Shaunna yells, quick to correct. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Though it has only been a few hours, it felt like days as each one came in and out. They were all the same, almost clones with their fake cheesy smiles and polite hand shakes, acting if they were old friends as they came in and sat across from him, asking the same old questions before taking a picture besides him while hugging for females or shaking hands for the males. He couldn't take much more of it and the fake ness that comes along with it. It was suffocating him. But why? Maybe the fact that New York City brought more reporters then even LA after a scandal. He has never been so bombarded by them before however with his single on the rise, he was the new upcoming star and for some reason America finally was taking a look at him. He could only thank and blame his management team and record label for all this pushing. Was it a blessing? or a curse. "Mr. Mayer," a voice says, bringing him can to reality to only find the same reporter type in front of him, looking at him a bit annoyed however that same cheesy grin plastered on his face. Sighing to himself, John brings a tired hand up, rubbing his face and bringing himself back to reality. He hadn't meant to phase out during an interview, in fact he knew it would be something Scotty would bark about later. "Yeah.. sorry. Can you repeat the question?" he mumbles as his hand drops down to his lap and he looks forward, trying to seem apologetic though he couldn't be. He didn't care if he phased out right now, he needed food, sleep, music, but mostly just out of there. "I was asking what your goal is for this album," the man says with a testy voice. John smirks some before shrugging his shoulders. "The album is just a way for me to get my messages out. Whatever sales do isn't important as long as one person understood. I mean that's what's important, people understanding and being able to identify with what I have to say." --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The girls look at each other, taking deep breaths as they stand alone in the conference room, them being the only ones left. Through their waiting time Shaunna filled Dani in some, having borrowed a CD from another reporter only to listen to it quickly, hearing the beginning and ends of each song. To say Dani was a bit impressed would be an under-exaggeration. The fact is, she couldn't have been more blown away however Shaunna quickly tore that down. "You're a reporter. You're professional. You shall go in there, get a good story, come out of there and never look back!" Shaunna says in a motivating tone, trying to pump up her nervous friend as they wait for the doors to happen. "Yeah... think of him as an ass hole and don't expect some deep wonderful guy. Check." Dani says nodding her head before taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly. "We're doomed... aren't we?" Shaunna says, biting her lip some. "Oh yeah," Dani says with a nervous laugh. |
