     BY LAWS

     Article I

The name of this organization shall be called �FLORIDA HIGHWAY PATROL RETIRED PERSONNEL ASSOCIATION, INC.�

     Article II
    Objectives and Purposes

The purpose:  To preserve and strengthen comradeship among it�s members, their families and surviving spouses; to promote interest and welfare of law enforcement, including retired personnel; to maintain true allegiance and faith in the rule of law in this state and of the United States, the Constitution of Florida and of the United States; and to foster patriotism among citizenry.

     Article III
                                                          Membership

Section l.  Membership shall be restricted to those full time personnel of the Division of Florida Highway Patrol of the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles as presently constituted and as it may be constructed in the future by amendment to Florida Law, and it�s predecessors who have retired from that employment.

Section 2.  The term �retired� shall mean authorized retirement from active duty by the properly constituted authority of the State of Florida.

Section 3.  �Member in good standing� is hereby defined to be a member who has paid all dues and assessments to the Association and who has otherwise complied with these bylaws of the Association.  Dues shall be payable on or before October 1st of each year.  Any member in arrears more than ninety (90) days shall not be in good standing.

Section 4.  All applicants for membership shall be subject to the approval of the Board of Directors based upon reasonable membership regulations, if any, established by such Board from time to time.


     Article IV
                                                  Officers and Directors

Section 1.  The elected officers shall consist of a President, such number of vice-presidents as the Board of Directors may from time to time determine, and a secretary and a Treasurer, or a Secretary-Treasurer.

Section 2.  The Board of Directors shall consist of the elected officers and such number of regional members of the corporation, but shall never be made up of less than three Directors.  The regional members at large shall be residents of various geographic locations throughout the State of Florida to reasonably embrace the various regions of the state.
