AIS International Cultures Day

Op 30 maart 2007 viert Andinet International School de diversiteit aan culturen.  Iedereen mag zijn/haar nationale kleren aan en er is een show voor de ouders.  Natuurlijk mag Saman zijn Srilankaanse afkomst vieren en hij is er trots op! Friday 30 March Andinet International School celebrates its cultural diversity.  Everyone can wear his/her national clothes and there is a show for the parents.  Of course Saman celebrates his Srilankan roots - with pride!

Saman: 4 1/2 jaar/ years,  Yekuno: 2 1/2 jaar/ years

Eerst de allerkleinsten: Yekuno's nursery, de 3 klassen samen.  Met de handjes op elkaar's schouders liepen ze de tent in.  Ook Yekuno had zijn Ethiopische shirtje aan.  Helaas was de opstelling niet zo slim en was ukje Yekuno achteraan nauwelijks zichtbaar. First the little ones: Yekuno' s nursery and the other 2 classes together.  Hands on each others' shoulders, they walked into the tent.  Yekuno wore his Ethiopian shirt.  Unfortunately it was not very well organized and small Yekuno was hardly visible.

Terwijl we op Saman's klas wachten, maakt Yekuno wat fotos, zoals deze van Lakach, onze onvolpresen hulp. While we wait for Saman's class, Yekuno takes some pictures, like this one of Lakach, our great help.

Saman's klas heeft een internationale modeshow.  Mister Sri Lanka zegt iedereen gedag "Hello mummies and daddies" en vertelt dat hij uit Sri Lanka komt, 4 jaar oud is en Srilankaanse kleren draagt.  Helemaal niet verlegen; we zijn zo trots! Saman's class has a fashion show.  Mister Sri Lanka greets everybody "Hello mummies and daddies" and explains that he is from Sri Lanka, 4 years old and wearing Srilankan clothes.  Not shy at all; we are so proud!

Om in stijl te blijven, waren we uitgenodigd bij Gayathri en haar moeder voor een heerlijke Srilankaanse lunch.  Saman orchestreerde een fotosessie - helaas zonder sarong en sari maar Saman was zich toch ten zeerste bewust van de gemeenschappelijke afkomst en genoot! To keep the momentum, we were invited at Gayatrhi's and her mother for a great Sri Lankan lunch.  Saman orchestrated a photo session - unfortunately without sarong and sari but Saman was well aware of the common roots and cherished the opportunity! 30/03/07
