I raced again last Thursday. Besides Mike Smith who rides in the second race, no one else from the team showed up. I felt pretty good that day on the ride to the park, so I decided to try to stay with the pack more than try to finish the race.
I was able to stay with the pack (on the back of course) for around 8 laps, I think. Then I slowly got dropped. In the end, I was lapped twice (as usual), but the second lapping didn't happen until the second to the last lap. I think if I pushed myself, I could have finished the race without being lapped twice. When I was going up the hill by myself, I was astonished to find that my heart rate monitor registered '00'. I remembered from the instructions that that meant my heart rate was 200bpm or over. It didn't sound good, so I eased up a bit.
At the end of the race, Erik Moen and Michael Gordon showed up. Erik shows up for the third race in the evening fairly regularly now. Mike was apparently just riding around Lake Washington when he bumped into Erik.
I rode back to school with Alan, a guy who races in the first race pretty regularly. The main difference is that he tends to win the race quite often. It's a shame he's not on a team... He's getting a lot of points. It turns out that he lives not too far away from the Aurora bike store.
Today, I'm writing this instead of riding on Saturday mornings because my girlfriend and I were going to join her friends to do something. But her friends had to cancel. So we'll have to entertain ourselves today. I should be studying anyways.
A short description of the race I did:
I'm gonna be real busy the next few days with my Qualifying Exams. And I think I'll be starting to design a web page for our bicycle team, the Aurora Cycling Club.
