When Friendship Turns To Love Part 11 (pg-13) Vincent was quietly roaming the tunnels. Prepared for anything. He reached the Chamber of Falls and sat a moment. Closing his eyes and mind off of everything around him, listening for the heartbeat of his son. As far as Vincent knew Paracelus was unaware of his connection to baby Jacob. A few minutes of tranquil silence was all he needed. He felt it. Faintly but he did. Paracelus must be deep into the catacombs. With the determination to find his son and stop Paracelus for good, Vincent started his journey. Catherine reached the lower tunnels not sure which way Vincent would have gone. She saw a few Sentries along the way. They told her Vincent has passed by sometime ago. "Good at least I am on the right path." She kept walking and decided to go to the Falls. She knew Vincent would go there to concentrate and make plans. She arrived it was empty. Taking a seat on a nearby rock, she began to think where could Paracelus go. The tunnels are always guarded. She knew he had to go deep into the catacombs to find a place to hideout. As she was listening to the water and thinking she remembered the Cavern of Winds. Vincent had told her you could hear so much if you stand on the bridge and listen. She went there. She heard many voices and sounds just as Vincent told her. Then all of a sudden she heard a faint cry of a baby echoing through the winds. Was it her son? She could tell which direction it was coming from. It was calling to her. She left on her search to find him. "I'm is coming little one." Vincent arrived at the Abyss. His son's heartbeats lead him there. "So Vincent , glad you could join us". Paracelus pointed to the baby in the basket just at the edge of the Abyss. "Vincent don't try anything." Paracelus foot was rocking the basket. It was mere inches from the edge of the endless hole. Vincent was angry, roaring his words, "all right Paracelus do not hurt my son." "What do you want?" He stopped rocking the basket. "I want back the world I created ." "I want complete control over everything and everyone." "When I was banished from my home years ago, I vowed to return and claim what was rightfully mine." "Paracelus you had caused so much heartache and pain among us." "It was a community decision." "How would you know you were just a babe.�? "All you know are the stories you have heard." "How do you know they are true?" "Paracelus they say the eyes are the window to the soul." "I look in yours and I see death, pain, suffering, evil and destruction." "I feel it as well." "It radiates all around you." "Had I not heard about you over the years, I would have known anyway." "Enough of this talk Vincent." "Are you going to give me what I want?' "That is not my decision to make Paracelus." "The community must vote." "They respect you just as they do Jacob, he spat his name, and you protect them." "They will listen to you." "Paracelus they will never give in." "Well, placing his foot on the basket moving it behind him, you must convince them." Vincent knew this was his opportunity. Baby Jacob was safely away from the Abyss. He was just ready to attack when Paracelus pulled out two guns. Aiming one at him and one at the baby. "Vincent don't try it, clicking both guns a moment than aiming them at Vincent. "Laughing his wicked laugh, "do you honestly think I would hurt the babe?" "Yes Paracelus you are capable of anything." "No he lives." "He will be the son that was taken away from me." "Father took you." "I take your son." "It's that simple." "No Paracelus it is not." "You see my son needs me." "We have a Bond, a connection." He will get sick if he is away from me." "He could even die." "He needs his father." "Well we will have to see." Vincent knew time was running out he had to do something and fast. He scanned the area. The baby was far enough away to be out of harm. If Paracelus fires on him so be it. He had to save his son. "No Paracelus I will not let you do it. Vincent lunged at him and he was ready to fire. Catherine saw the scene before her from her hiding place on the ledge above them. Vincent was unaware that she was there. His total concentration was on Paracelus. Before Paracelus could fire, Catherine jumped from her perch above landing directly on Paracelus' back. He fell to the ground and the gun fired. Vincent's quick reflexes caused the bullet to miss him by a few inches. Paracleus was hanging over the edge of the Abyss. Catherine was as well. Vincent panic Paracelus was losing his hold. He ran to them as fast as he could gently grabbing Catherine's waist. He hugged her to him just as Paracelus fell into the Abyss. They listened to his screams as he fell. Than all was silent. Paracelus was gone. "Catherine are you all right, gently rubbing her all over?" "Yes Vincent I am fine." "A little shaky but fine." Are you and our son all right ?" "Yes I am, leaving her a moment he picked up the baby and handed him to her. Together they made sure he was OK. He smiled at them as if nothing happened. He kissed Catherine than. "Your courage saved us Catherine." "I love you." �But, seeing the look in his startling blue eyes she knew it was lecture time, �you should have stayed with Mary where I knew you were safe." Placing a finger gently upon his lips to silence him. �Vincent is was not courage that brought me here.� �It was my love for you.� �As I told Mary before I left her, I love you with all my heart and I am not going to let you take on Paracelus alone.� �I am your woman." "My place is with you." �No matter what the circumstances are Vincent we will face them together.� He saw the determined look in her lovely gray-green eyes and felt the depths of her words. He accepted them with heartfelt gratitude and love. Catherine would always be by his side. Taking the two most important people in his embrace, they headed back to his chamber.
