Florida remained one of the few states to deny restoration of civil rights for certain ex-offenders who had completed their sentences, a law with historical underpinnings dating back to the racial discrimination of the Jim Crow Era.

Republican Governor Crist introduced a change to the Rules of Executive Clemency that provides for the restoration of the civil rights for certain ex-offenders who have completed their sentences.

Chairman Long Encourages Growth of
Black Republican Clubs
Orlando- Across the State of Florida Black Republican Clubs are on the increase.  Chairman Deon Long believes this growth will continue.

"During the 2004 Presidential election many Black Americans began to really see the differences between the two parties and actually took the time to learn more about the electoral process. That was a key turning point for the Republican Party and Black Americans.  Same Sex Marriage, Social Security and Homeland Security were key issues that Blacks were challenged with and the Republican Party had the right answer" stated Chairman Long.
