When you remove the strut bolt nuts and the balljoint retaining bolt/nut you should remove the strut bolts. be careful when you do this. MAKE SURE THERE IS NO SPRING-PRESSURE ON THE BOLTS WHEN YOU REMOVE THEM! The bolts slid out when I did my car. If there is pressure, make sure the suspension isn't compressed or being restricted(there might be a jack or jack stand in the way of the control arm.) If you can't find a reason for the pressure being there or a way to relieve it, use a spring compressor to compress the spring and then take the bolts out.
Now that the bolts are out, use a pry bar to pry the spindle forward if needed. you will probably need to use a ball joint seperator on the ball joint to remove the spindle from it.(the ball joint)
This is how everything should look after you remove the spindle. (the tie rod end should be removed at this point if you haven't already done so.) Check the ball joint for play, inspect the ball joint boot to make sure it doesn't have any rips tears or holes in it. If the rubber bushings on the lower control arm are dry rotted or falling apart, consider replacing them. If you are replacing the lower ball joint then now is the time to do it.
