Here we go....
Here is my original combination. 155/80/r12. The tires were fairly new. The rim measures 12"x4.5". The bolt pattern is a 4x 4.5". Before even jacking the car up the first thing you should do is loosen the nut that holds the half-shafts in the car. They should be crimped onto the shafts so you have to un-crimp them.
After jacking up the vehicle and SAFELY supporting it remove the wheel. and this is what you should see. REMEMBER, do not put any jacks or stands on or near the lower control arm. It must be loose in order to install the new spindles and/or change the lower control arms/ball joints.
At this point, you should be looking for THESE bolt locations highlighted by arrows. The first you should loosen should be the tie rod end and it's set nut(top upper left white arrow). Don't remove any of the bolts yet, just loosen them. DO NOT LOOSEN THE CONTROL ARM BOLT (lower black arrow) IF YOU ARE NOT REPLACING THE CONTROL ARM/BALLJOINT ASSEMBLY. Remember that you can turn the assembly back and forth to get at the bolts a little better.
