About Our Team
Our team is still relatively new, (our first season was in the spring of 2005). We're currently in our fourth year of being a Club Team.
We are a member of the Women's Collegiate Lacrosse League (WCLL). We are currently considered a B-4 school. We play schools such as Western Michigan, Calvin, Grand Valley, Davenport, Oakland, Albion, Hope, Saginaw Valley and Central. Our team has room to accommodate 22 players. This year we have 16 people on our active roster. So far we haven't had the need to require "try-outs" in order to be a part of the team. Also, the majority of our players have never played lacrosse until they became involved with the Ferris Club Team. Our playing season is during the Spring Semester. Hopefully in the upcoming years we will be able to partake in a Fall schedule. Also, during the Fall Semester we work on conditioning, (running, sit-ups, etc.), in the Student Recreation Center a few nights a week.
We generally are set up for recruiting new members at the Club Sports Expo, and Bulldog Bananza. Generally the Club Sports Expo is held in the University Rec Center, during Welcome Week in the Fall; Bulldog Bananza is in the Ewigleben Sports Complex, typically in September. As dates and information are released, they will be updated.
--At these events we have members of our team there to talk to, and ask questions. We also will have a uniform, and equipment on display.
If you're interested in becoming a member of our team send an e-mail to: [email protected], with your name, phone number you'll be able to be reached at during the school year, and the e-mail address you'd like information to be sent to. Just by signing up doesn't mean you are forced to play, but you'll get the chance to meet the girls and learn a little about the sport before you make your final decision. We also have a new group on facebook called "FSU womens lacrosse team 2007-2008"
The ferris womens lacrosse team is a very relaxed team we have a lot of fun at practices but we also get a lot of stuff done. This year we have been working with the guys team more and they have been helping out with some stick drills. Since we are all lacrosse players, the guys and the girls have decided to help each other out, that includes scoring their games, taping the field, keeping stats etc. This season looks very promising and we are all excited to get out there and show everyone what we are made of.
WE ARE FERRIS STATE WOMENS LACROSSE...... GET SOME!
