1979 | August 9 - Queen of Alberni ran aground in Active Pass. Many cars and trucks were damaged as the ship tilted over, tiping over some of the trucks. No people were hurt but one racehorse was killed. |
1984 | The Queen of Alberni had an upper car deck installed for 150 non-overheight vehicles. |
1989 | June - Six people were injured when the Queen of Alberni smashed into the dock at Departure Bay. |
1990 | The Queen of Alberni was put on the new Mid-Island Express route between Tsawwassen and Nanaimo. |

1999 | January - The Queen of Alberni underwent a refit at Victoria Shipyards. |
2001 | December 15 - A heavy wind storm turned a 2-hour trip on board the Queen of Alberni into a 7 1/2-hour trip. There was light damage to the ferry. |
