Georgia from inside
Here you will learn more about Georgia and people that live there
Here I will tell you how people were living
during Soviet Union times and how it changed.
My Dads family was successful and respectful
family. My grandfather was working as a director
of a newspaper. For his achievements he received
a new awesome apartment in the best place in the city.
And that was not unique situation at that time.
All hard workers received apartment in different
parts of the city. Government had enough money to do so.
People lived happily and new that they would
always have a place to live. People were working
and studying and earned enough money for living.
City was full of different beautiful places that
tourists and citizens could visit. Parks were cleaned
up every day. People live like a normal European country.
When Soviet
Union fell of everything turned upside down.
Government changed, politicians started to fight for
the power. Finally when the situation stabilized people
realized that being independent will not make place
better then it was. First power supplies when off.
There was no light in the city for few months.
Hot water and gas were turned off forever
because of lack of gas supplies.
I remember how my parents and me were cooking
dinner on grill outside of the apartment.
In few month government finally fixed all
the electricity problems. People had to buy
gas in tanks and use them because there was
no natural gas in stoves and people could
cook dinner at all. People started buying
stoves that worked on gasoline or other
flammable liquids. Everybody started getting
used to it. Most of the people lost their jobs
and who didnt, got miserable salaries.

Parks
and other amusing places stopped being taken care off.
But there were stilllots of places to go to because
nature in the city was wonderful.

People took care of it by themselves and they didnt need any help
from government.
School didnt get enough money for children.
Government started to close Russian schools
all over the city because they wanted to get
money from selling their own books in Georgian.
Economics was, is and will be the biggest problem
in Georgia. Until politicians will stop stilling
money from Georgian people we will not have
a wealthy and happy country.
I dont know what is going on in
Georgia right now but the new president
seems to have lost of energy and he will
put effort into making country as good as
it was during Soviet Union times.
