This country is located near black see. Many countries surround Georgia such as: Armenia, Turkey, Azerbaijan and Russian. Long time ago it was one of the most important trading countries in Europe. The silk way was going through the country. But in about 14th century Mongol Empire invaded the country. Government started to split up. After Russian has defeated Mongols they started to retreat. After few centuries of Mongol horror Georgia was really week. External enemies that recovered faster from Mongol invasion started to capture Georgians land. Then Georgian rulers decided that the best way out of the disaster was to join Russian Empire. Russian�s were happy to get free land and they signed the contract that Georgia is part of Russia. After that event Georgia started to recover fast. People started collecting crops, Economics of the country went up and people started filling safer. After the revolution in Russia Georgia agreed to be a part of USSR. Since 17th century Georgia was part of Russia. Now most of the people new Russian as there second or even first language. But disaster happened in 1991, USSR fell apart. Some people thought that independent Georgia is going to be better but they were wrong. As soon as Georgia stopped being part of the USSR politicians started fighting for the power. Dictator named Zurab Gamsaxurdia became a president of Georgia but it was not for long. Capital Tbilisi became a place of war. People were afraid to go outside. Tanks were patrolling the streets and people with guns were everywhere. After 2 years of ruling he left the country because he was afraid for his life. After the election, Eduard Shevardnadze became a new president of republic of Georgia. Under his rule Georgia didn�t reach that level when it was in USSR but he made it much safer then it was when Zurab Gamsaxurdia was a president. He was a president of Georgia for 10 years. In year of 2003-2004 new political figure appeared, Mixail Saakashvili . He was full of energy and plans to make Georgia better then it is right now. With support of people and young politicians make and old, experienced recoil. Shevarnadze gave up his title of a president of Republic of Georgia. Now the new ruler appeared that pays a lot of attention on Georgian army force.He admires USA and visits it very often.But his politics is based on force. He made a president of Adjaria retire and took full control of the place. Russian and Georgia are not that close anymore. Now new president give his attention to USA more then to Russian, old friend that was helping and protecting Georgia for years.
